Two deas I saw in Youtube comments:

Players, except those on rookie contracts, put up their own money as the prize money.

Another was that they return to the draft format and the losing team is ineligible to be All Stars the following year.

My idea is to have fan juries to vote on each individual's performance. If their defense was not up to par, they would be voted ineligible to be an All Star the next year.

I'm saying you have to get them to put their pride on the line if you want them to play like they mean it

There hasn't been any defense for decades in the all-star game.

The difference is that until the last few years you still had more variety in the scoring whereas now its majority 3 pointers.

Add some form of abstracted gambling to it. Players (other than rookie scale) all put in money that makes a pot. The winning team gets the pot and the pay out is distributed based on fan voting. The underdog player, most effort, or whatever fans decide to value. There should be a live app that coaches can use to see which players fans want to see getting more playing time.

The most impressive thing about this game was Luka Doncic. Dude already plays at his own slow pace, but somehow he plays even slower in the allstar game where his jogs are slower than how fast I walk

The problem with this game along with the NBA today is the loss of the midrange game. You need a specific skill set and multiple counters to operate from there. Most players just run down the court and Jack up shots from everywhere so guys who would have been spot up jump shooters back then have more prominent roles

I remember the first half was a joke and then it got more serious as the game went on with guys fully competing in the 4th

I don’t understood all the crying about the ASG. I’ve watched it since the Raptors entered the league and it was never taken seriously. Players would joke around and then buckle down in the 4th quarter. No difference than how it goes today.

If they want guys to take it seriously maybe increase the prize money. Guys aren’t going to risk injury to get their conference home court when 90% of them don’t have a shot of making the final.

Good video showing the difference from Sunday's ASG to 1987. If too long just watch the first 5 minutes, see how guys got back on D and shots were contested.

This guy usually makes videos exposing Lebron, and his language is very salty, but the breakdowns are well done:

There goes my hero. Watch him as he goes.

That was good. I skimmed through. Probably watched half of it but got the point and he’s not wrong.

The difference in play is incredible.

Also the part about Jaylen Brown’s dunk was hilarious
