Shaq, no brainer.
The Orlando version of him would be perfect for the current league, he was strong enough to absolutely abuse defenders in the post, but mobile enough to do fine defensively in the current NBA which requires a lot more mobility from the bigs defensively and much less low post defending.

It’s a biased viewpoint, but Penny entirely solves our point guard problem. He would put Paolo and Franz in the best spots to score at all times. He has the size and speed to defend any PG today.
As great and dominant as Shaq and Dwight are, they don’t shoot 3s and they could be free throw liabilities in today’s game.

It gets more interesting when you rule out HoF potential players.
I think Scott Skiles similarly would help.
Vince Carter even the version of him we got would be interesting here.

I think the thought experiment is pretty boring to be honest. Shaq clears every other franchise player by orders of magnitude. Which is why I didn't post. But what does interest me is Joshua's comment about a non-star player that you'd add. I'm torn between Nick, Hedo, Skiles, or Darrell. I think I'd go Hedo and triple down on playmaking forwards.

Hedo would be coming off the bench...and I love Hedo

Thing about Tmac, he had arguably the worst supporting cast of all time with the Magic after he left Vince. That Raptors team was an amazing what if. In Houston he had Yao, but the west was tough.
Even when T mac got support, he still did nothing with it ( Rocket years with Ming).
T mac was so damn talented but never winning player. Some crazy mix between Wiggins & Lavine, you see crazy talent, crazy capability, you see flashes of brilliance, but it never turns into good product for a team ( well, Wiggins menaged to win a ring , Lavine & T mac never passed first round of playoff).
Again, Tracy is probably one of most talented, gifted basketball players in past 30 years, but much like Melo, his talent is one thing, his contribution to winning basketball whole another. Probably just wrong mentality & approach , too much Kobe/Jordan influence in them, too little Lebron- Magic influence . We all know those players were capable of making impossible shots, but sometimes, like in 99% cases, passing terrible shot for good shot of your teammate is better shot.
His best Houston team won 55 games and had the unlucky timing of playing in a western conference where all 8 teams won 50 plus games. He was nowhere near your Lavine and Wiggins comp.

Prime Nick Anderson and Dennis Scott would be fantastic on this team right now.

Prime Nelson also would work well for us.
Going back to Shaq. People really forget that he won titles with Derek Fisher at his starting PG.....
Back to my off topic topic. I like Ben Wallace here off the bench. Identical role to Isaac really. Although Isaac has way better range.
When you look back at that 08 team you see a lot of good shooters. Man.
