LAL/ATL/ORL Offseason Deal
Assumes Hawks decide to rebuild. Also assumes the Magic wait another year to go all in on a PG - otherwise they would just take Dejounte in this deal (or even Trae). Are the Lakers stealing too much value?
LAL In: Murray, WCJ, Cole Anthony
LAL Out: DLO, Hachimura, Vincent, JHS, Wood, 2024/25 1st, 2029 1st, 2031 1st (all unprotected)
Lakers get their starting PG and backup PG. They also get a good big to support AD. It cost all of their tradeable FRPs though.
ATL In: Hachimura, Vincent, JHS, Wood, 3 LAL FRPs, 1 ORL FRP
ATL Out: Murray, Okongwu
Assumes the Hawks want to rebuild. They get mediocre contracts/role players, but add 4 FRPs and a prospect. Don't think they should move Okongwu especially with the recent extension, but likely would have good value in the market.
ORL In: DLO, Okongwu
ORL Out: WCJ, Cole Anthony, 2025 ORL 1st (top 4 protected)
Magic upgrade the PG and center spots at the cost of a FRP. Okongwu would fit nicely, and I think DLO could be a great fit given his experience and skillset. This assumes the Magic wait until 2025 to get a long-term star PG.

Not really sure about Orlando's involvement. I understand them not going after Murray if they want more of a shooter in the role, but is Okongwu worth the extra 1st from WCJ?

I don't feel like Murray is this valuable.

Terrible value for ORL. Take out the frp and value is fair, assuming DLo is re-signed for 18m or less. WCJ>= Okongwu.
That ORL package should get them Murray.

Re: LAL/ATL/ORL Offseason Deal
Atlanta moving both Okongwu and Murray for mainly picks for a "rebuild" doesn't make sense when they don't have their own picks. I agree that Atlanta moving Okongwu isn't the best idea (I don't agree that WCJ>=Okongwu).

Ah, makes sense. I had thought Okongwu had more value than WCJ.

he is a 6'8 "center" with more a body of a PF. what i would typically call a "gargage man" in that you arent going to run plays for him, not a good ball handler or passer and not exactly a rim protector.

I doubt Atlanta trades Okongwu for WCJ straight up.

Re: LAL/ATL/ORL Offseason Deal
Hawks are not remotely interested in this deal. WCJ and OO are fairly close but I value OO more. He can guard 1-5 and excels at doing the dirty work. He's added a more reliable 3 shot that makes the difference.

Great because trading WCJ would be stupid for the Magic. WCJ cannot stay healthy, but when healthy he is a very good player. Magic keep rolling the dice with health.

1 year at 34% on 1 attempt a game isnt exactly "reliable" but i get your point about his defensive ability

Re: LAL/ATL/ORL Offseason Deal
I have WCJ as the better center over Okongwu. I have DLo as a guy who could maybe get the Lakers a trade exception after the other team's plans A, B, & C in free agency don't work out. No idea why the Magic are adding a pick.

Jarret Allen isn’t winning you anything. Garland won’t show up in the playoffs. Mobley is a glorified dunk man. Mitchell has some experience but is a liability on defense. To me, the Cavs are a treadmill team.

Kinda sassy aint' ya. OO being more reliable than he personally has been considering he's started shooting it. I like him shooting not that he's better than WCJ at it. WCJ btw was a career 32% shooter himself before this season. Both guys have shown growth from there, just have to see how they carry it over into the next season.

dont get me wrong, i dont consider WCJ a reliable 3 pt shooter either. his best year this year at 41%, still a small sample size of 30 games.

Re: LAL/ATL/ORL Offseason Deal
I think this deal works without Orlando?
I don’t know why LAL would really value Cole over DLO so taking that part out of the deal shouldn’t be a deal breaker.
I don’t think LAL should further their pick debt for this group. The window feels closed to me and Murray isn’t the star to reopen it.
But I think he’s worth the 29/31 firsts and think OO is worth the 2024 first. So value seems about right.
