They can't trade him, his contract is terrible. I think the Wizards would have been better off keeping Chris Paul instead of making that trade. They got a 2nd in 2027 and a top 20 protected #1 in 2030. But if that doesn't convey it becomes a 2nd.
i can't believe they didn't even get a guaranteed 1st
When you add in the Morris for a 2nd follow-up, they got almost nothing for Porzingis as well as the difference between that year's Tyus Jones and that year's Monte Morris was not great (last year Morris was injured and ineffective so last year it was quite large). They did get a nice deal for Beal but I think they just wanted to tear down the house to the studs and start over and were willing to take less than fair value to accomplish that.
Sometimes one bad move leads to another! There is no question that if they had kept CP they could have just let him sit on the bench if nothing else or played him 15 min a game then they could have traded him at the deadline if he wasn't hurt. They won't not have had to take a train wreck like Poole for nearly nothing.
They got Gallo and Muscala and they were then traded to the Pistons for Bagley III and Livers and some draft considerations what ever that means. Julian Phiillips was the 35th pick in 2023 from the KP trade, he went to Chicago for 26 and 27 2nd round picks.
So out of CP and Porzingis they got Tyus Jones, Bagley III, Livers, Baldwin jr, Poole and 3 2nd round pick and a 2030 #1 top 20 protected, that will probably be a 2nd.
