Do you think our FO keeps WCJ in mind as a cheap backup plan in case the Claxton operation fails?

I do think we might have some interest, but it would likely have to be part of a bigger deal with Orlando landing a center upgrade and needing to spin off WCJ for an asset. Maybe if Orlando has a deal done with Claxton in FA but needs to clear some money then we can take on the whole contract into a DPE and send a pick.

They have more than enough cap space for Claxton

I am aware. But what if they want to sign another player as well they might need the additional space.

Wow thanks for the responses, everyone. I didn't think this topic would generate much discussion.

I want to add that I believe the PG market is rough right now. Not many teams like OKC able to spare capable point guards for 1st and 2nd units.

So I think Mann and Micic were undervalued at point of sale.

Mann looks more and more like someone the Hornets should probably keep with LaMelo. Micic can move a defense.

The Magic have 40+ mill in capsace and there are PGs available in FA that are a lot more proven than Mann/Micic. So to me this trade doesnt make much sense ATM.

Who? Are you talking about DLO? or Spencer Dinwiddie? I agree that both are proven vets, but they'll be more expensive than Mann or Micic and have their flaws.

Tyus Jones could be an okay signing.

Would absolutely love to get him as an heir apparent to Horford in Boston, but don't think you can make the salary matching work with Boston being a 2nd apron team and not being able to aggregate salaries.

They will cost more in terms of salary, but the Magic give up no assets to get them. So Id rather do that and trade WCJ in a separate trade for a future 1st, or just trade him and other assets for a good PG.

There are some combo guards that I believe can play PG for the Magic too. They dont need an elite playmaker. They just need a good player and solid playmaker who can shoot.

Micic and Tre have had 3 good games. They havent proven anything yet for me to come close to believing they're starters, and the Magic dont need to take a gamble here. Maybe they'd be worth the gamble if they're giving up a 2nd round pick, but not WCJ.

Giddey for WJC seems like a fit for both teams.

Magic get a PG who wants to pass, is tall(which they like), has upside, and Suggs can cover him defensively as POA defender.

OKC get a cheap C locked in for a few years and allows Chet to play as PF more to preserve his body.

I think we need much better shooting in that spot than Giddey can provide. Honestly he seems like a terrible fit.
