Re: Official Ochai Agbaji Thread - Welcome to Toronto, Ochai!
Ochai needs to string together some good games on offense because watching him he has all the tools and his shot is not broken. He just can't be a 4-5 threes one game then nothing the next game.
I do like what Darko has done with the bench. Having Ochai and Kelly already brings familiarity and Brown can fit any line-up. Gradey then becomes the main scoring threat. I think that is going to be a high scoring group although my preference is to add some rim protection in.

Otto isn't playing, and won't play so his value to the trade was nothing but filler.
Is Kira Lewis Jr plus the 28th to 30th pick in the draft really worth Kelly and Ochai?
I didn't understand it either. Utah was also playing so well of late. Ainge's reasoning was to tank rest of year and keep his pick (top 10 protected)
KO was an expiring, so they got value from a player who was not going to be re-signed, and ochai was producing effectively nothing. Ainge is tanking, it makes complete sense.

Props TZ!

I said he wants to tank to keep it top 10 but still Tor is going to re-sign Olynyk and if they turn Agbagi into a useful 3 and D player, raps kill them in this deal

Who's more realistic, Knick's fans with Precious or us with Ochai?

Us re-signing KO isn't relevant, they got value for an expiring thats all. OA being a steal is heavily dependent on how good he turns out, he was a player that shouldve been picked in the 20's traded for a pick in the 20's there's no killing anyone unless he turns out to be a really good 3+D.
The deal made sense for Utah, and sorta made sense for us, not every trade needs one team to kill the other.

Props TZ!

It's a trade that make sense for both sides
Raps get to look at a guy right away that there were interested and Utah get value for guys they like to move on from
Tor already has 2 picks coming in this year

If Ochai becomes a reliable 3 and D guy then Utah gets smoked in this. They couldn’t develop him. They are likely not finding that at 28 in this subpar draft. The deal made sense for utah only if they keep their pick so they’ll need to slide a little more. Deal absolutely makes sense for Tor Because they scooped 2 nice assets off the bench and got rid of a late first which they werent going to use considering the others they had.

Liked what I saw from Ochai last night. But then again I would have liked any random if he shot 4 of 5 from threes as well.

Precious is doing more on a playoff team and Ochai is doing worse on a lottery team. Both dudes are around the same age, Knicks probably get the dub on this one.

I'm really impress with his defense, his ability to stay in front of his man, disrupt the passing lanes and fight through screens is a rare quality amongst perimeter defenders. He shows a lot of grit and determination on the defensive end, very similar to OG not as strong but he's far more quicker. We ain't getting killed at the POA as often when Ochai is there, in fact the lineup of Ochai, Brown, Quickley, Barnes and Olynyk have been getting it on defense the past few games. Dark should continue to explore opportunities for these guys to play together for longer stretches.

I wasn't a fan his first couple games, but I get that he was trying to get to know the system, but he has won me over.
His defense the last couple games has been elite. I honestly like throwing comparisions, and a guy who he reminds me of is Raja Bell. Bell was a more consistent shooter, and Agbaji i is a better athlete, but I see the similarities.

Sure I get why they no longer needed these players, but the value they got in return seems low.

Precious need a new contract next year while ochai has 2 more cheap years. Will depend on what $$$ precious gets and if he can stay healthy/consistent

An underperforming 4 year college player, and an expiring, for OPJ and a late first is low return? Masai couldn't even get a FRP for FVV. This is a completely fair return.

Saying they "couldn't" develop him is a bit of a stretch, he played around 100 games with Utah. We couldn't develop Flynn after close to 200, one of those makes more sense than the others.

Props TZ!

Not a stretch. Thats reality. They didnt develop him after only 1.5 years, gave up on him and decided to punt him for a 28th pick. Their fans hated this trade for that reason. A year ago he was labeled untouchable.

Sure he can hit a bunch of threes and then hit nothing, he's like a 33% shooter getting limited minutes. You want him to spread his threes out evenly or something because of a distrubtion of like 15 shots? Some of the criticism nba players get is pretty bizarre to me.

Let's playin for 9th!

Ochai is such a good vertical athlete and he's a smart guy off the court but he moves so awkwardly and for some reason looks like he lacks great coordination. It's truly strange.

OG was the least coordinated player I have ever seen
As long as he can keep his player in front of him, I could care less what he looks like while running.
