No you just don't understand the stat. And yes, Conley has more efficient than Shai this season.

It's not a measure of how much offensive impact a player is having or how good he is on that end. You'll notice that I never said that Shai is a better or more impactful offensive player than Luka.

I'll keep repeating this until it gets through to you.

Meaning there is a trend flowing toward: Powell - Conley - SGA - Steph - Durant, sounds about right

Yeah, Powell and Conley have been incredibly efficient with their possessions (while carrying miniscule offensive roles and acting exclusively as finishers/spot up shooters).

It's not a measure of how much offensive impact a player is having or how good he is on that end. You'll notice that I never said that Shai is a better or more impactful offensive player than Luka.

I'll keep repeating this until it gets through to you.

Jokic may win unanimously at this rate lol. He's going for it.

Call me biased, I don't care, but you can't give me a real argument for anyone winning it over than Jokic, other than you just want to see a new face.

I can't believe people keep saying Jokic is taking it easy. Huh?

Where's Eyetoma and Hussain?

No one has been better than Jokic this year. Healthy or not. I can't believe anyone suggested that anyone else is the best player in the NBA.

SGA with 44 to Jokic's 75 votes.

That's 44 voters who aren't being objective

Interested to see if the Nuggets are putting the foot down after the break or if they just played two bad teams. If they can get a top two seed I can't see a realistic argument for anyone else than Jokic.

People seem very convinced Jokic will win MVP despite him not being nearly as dominant in advanced stats as previous seasons. Like EPM has SGA as the most valuable player, while LEBRON has Giannis providing the most value. Last couple years Jokic was sweeping these stats.

What's the argument for Jokic that he should be unanimous MVP? Vibes? "Eye test"? Retroactive reward for being robbed last year?

Tim Legler is giving Luke MVP case some love

I phased out all podcasts except this one, Adam Mares and Tim Legler have great chemistry, and usually tell it like it is.
As a Mavs fan, I am under no delusion Luka isn't tracking this and coveting this, but I want his full focus on seeding and escaping play in, team has no room for mistakes after the barrage of injuries the team suffered in December and January that dropped them down to 8th seed.

Quietly, I suppose, Gianni had a 33-13-5 against the Wolves in a really good road win coming out of the break. He's now only 2nd all-time in 30-10-5 games with 60% from the field to Kareem, passing Wilt.

guys, relax :)

I know u watch Jokic as much as I do and have done so for several seasons. he isn't doing anything new or special, that includes his effort. he's playing his regular game, sometimes it works more (especially when guys are hitting shots) and sometimes it works less..

he's not "going" for anything..
they just had 3 straight losses (albeit shorthanded and vs. good teams but still), they care about seeding (MPJ has even specifically said as much this week) and they wanted to make sure they don't drop any more unessescary games. it was the vs. Wizards and Portland with Sharpe, Scoot, Brogdon all out, Jokic can sleep walk into a triple double in 25 mins vs such teams and he was clearly coasting in both games, he was hardly going all out so no merit to the claim that he's "going for it" imo, I doubt he cares

he's just playing his game same as he ever has, he's got another gear he's saving for the playoffs. this is not Jokic going all out by any means. we've seen that version of him jut last playoffs and it's easy to tell the two apart.

SGA might be great in TOV, but I kinda doubt that Iverson would talk like that about him. :D

Giannis made a conscious effort in the first half of the season to help get Dame ingratiated into the Bucks' system. It just hasn't worked and it has hurt Giannis' MVP candidacy. I don't really see him recovering to win the award. He's clearly 4th, maybe 3rd.

Nice to see Tatum where he belongs at #5 on bbref's Tracker today.

Also interesting that Kawhi (10th) and Anthony Davis (9th) are making appearances now.

Still a four-man race with Jokic in the driver's seat.

how much credit does shai get for the thunder defense? difficult to quantify. shai does lead the league in steals per game, has a 3%+ steal rate and is first among all wings in total 'stocks'. like luka he is not guarding the other player's best player often, but i think shai is far more active overall on defense than most wings especially in passing lanes and on help defense where his length has been a peak paul george-like attribute (he leads the league in deflections per game as well).

wing defense is over-emphasized by boxscore metrics like EPM that have shai way ahead of everyone else. but i think shai's impact defensively is too easily dismissed when he's compared against other wings in the mvp race, especially relative to luka.

it's hard for any wing to take on either embiid or jokic at the height of their powers since they are such extreme outliers relative to their size and position. i hope if shai doesn't win, that luka does. but jokic might just be too much for either of them.

Not saying it’s wrong at all but it’s so weird that less than 2 weeks ago Legler was on the Zach Lowe podcast saying Luka shouldn’t be a starter in the west all star game.

He said he’s defense has been soo so bad that he would have chosen Ant over Luka as an all star starter.

Media just flip their opinions like a coin at the drop of a hat.
