From what I've seen so far and will continue to follow his progress. I would be more than happy for him to be our pick. He has a nice little one-legged fade away that looks nice and would be hard to defend. He's the type of athlete that checks most all the boxes. Very good body control on some up and unders. He can out pressure on the rim, which is something I always look for.

I definitely see some Franz Wagner in his game if he can improve his handle he can be that type of player. I also like his shot making ability. Dude loves taking and making game winning shots. He's pretty clutch in that aspect.

Definitely wouldn't mind him on the team.

I think he's my favorite player I've watched tape on. He's that tall 3/4 skilled forward that pairs well with Miller Time.

Yeah the athletic tall sf is the kind of player we need.

I'm cool drafting the 3 sf's Risacher/Buzelis/Williams. I like Collier if we fall back.

I really like JaKobe Walter. He has a beautiful shot, very effective from 3, good defender, decent handle, good passer, nice size. More of a classic SG who would be a great compliment to Melo and Miller.
I continue to wait...and hope...for the return to Hornet's glory.

Tyler Smith is another guy we should be watching. He's solid across the board. And unlike most of the guys in this class he isn't a twig. I think he could get time on the court next season as a 3&D 4 off the bench and hold his own.

Here's a good article discussing his play:

Hilarious OTE was mocked last year.

Ausar and Amen went 4/5 last year.
Sarr might go #1, Dillingham is #4 on Espn big board, Tyler Smith is #9 in Barlowe latest mock, Almansa is a first round prospect.

There was a nice little practice dunk contest with Cooper snd Matas about 2 years ago. They have very similar athletic attributes. The more I dig up the more I'm keying in on Buzelis. Much more so then ny previous prospects crush on Cody Williams. Like MUCH MORE!

Glad to see his performance at the Rising Stars game has Buzelis's stock on the, er, rise. Hyped to go #1 a while ago before his start with GLI ratcheted down expectations.

Unreal but just pointing out that *to my knowledge* just about none of these players were on the draft board last year besides just the two players with the star symbol next to their name. Now this year all of these guys are on the mocks. I didn't say NO ONE had them on their mocks, I am saying I looked at quite a few and didn't see any of them on either round.

BuB Carrington, - I didn't know about him last year
Reece Beekman,
Judah Mintz, - ***
KJ Simpson,
Zion Pullen,
Dalton Knect,
Kevin McCullar,
Hunter Sallis,
Nikola Durisic, ***
Tristen Newton,
Ajay Mitchell,
Juan Nunez,
Devin Carter,
Trey Alexander,
Ryan Dunn, - *** - I didn't know about him last year
Bobi Klintman,
Trevon Brazile,
Oso Ighodaro,
PJ Hall,
Tristen De Silva,
Zvonimir Ivisic,

I'm a Walter guy as well. I think he's pretty raw right now actually, but as a true freshman he's shown scoring acumen that bodes well for his future. He needs to get better as a creator to realize his full potential. Watching Baylor games, they stick him on the perimeter for kick outs or skip pass opps, so he can disappear for stretches which is what turns most off IMO. You don't get a lot of rebounds trying to react from 23 feet out.

Still, he has a pretty stroke from 3, isn't afraid to shoot and did a nice job in their most recent game against BYU getting to the line. Those are all positives to me.

I have other guys I like more, but considering where we're likely slotted, there's no shot at Risacher or Sarr.

Sam Vecenie/The Athletic has moved Johnny Furphy up to spot 13 in his new Mock Draft
Playing for Bill Self, a coach who generally has an aversion to playing raw freshmen, Furphy is averaging 13.7 points and 7.0 rebounds while shooting 55.7 percent from the field and 42.6 percent from 3 in his last 10 games.

At 6-9 with legitimate athleticism in the open court, Furphy has earned serious minutes and consistently hits the score sheet with his rebounding, and he forces teams to run in transition with Kansas because of how much pressure he puts on the rim. It’s hard to find guys who are this big, this athletic and can play on the wing.

And it was evidently a knee injury.

So instead of his ankle, his knee was on a swivel.

Please nobody jump on his bandwagon. I don't want to flashback to our era of a center with a 6'10 wingspan.

My fault didn't realize he was injured. That sucks. Just saw his name in multiple post without reading them through and panicked that he would be our guy. I hope it's nothing major and he gets back on the court soon.
