Classic low information, hot take thread. Regardless of the record since Doc took over, the D has got dramatically better. The team is much better off now than before we fired Dr Grief.

Sixers are going to beat them to it though.

This is a top 10 defensive team under Doc (29th with AG I believe), looking like things are starting to click. Thanks for the ol' Realgm jinx thread never fails

For the bucks it never was or will be about the schedule it’s always about them and their Defense.
They have always been a top 10 D and rebounding team with Giannis and Lopez until Griffin took over best decision ever to fire him. Need Middleton back and if this team is healthy come playoffs they are a scary team and hard out for anyone.

Re: Bucks dropping to play-in territory?
The Sixers don't have Embiid
The Hawks just lost Trae
The Bulls are without Zach LaVine and Patrick Williams. Plus Torrey Craig is out for a few weeks.
The Magic are inexperienced
The Pacers are okay
The Heat are good.
If the Bucks continue losing it's possible that they'll still be a playoff team because the teams below them (in the standings) have issues too.

Re: Bucks dropping to play-in territory?
Bucks feel like a team that could go to the finals or lose first round and either way I wouldn't be surprised
They have 2 years of tryout for the Giannis and Dame combo so I say until 2 playoff runs are in the books it's okay for them to struggle a bit

5-7 with Doc now after starting 1-5.
They are steadying.
They are steadying.
** Luka made The Finals without Brunson
** Embiid is the only MVP in NBA history to never make a conference final
** Philly won multiple playoff games without MVP Embiid
** LeBron missed the playoffs with Davis
** Steph missed the playoffs with Klay

So what's the cause of the losing record? Struggling offensively or just tough schedule?

How about hiring a new coach on their hardest road games of the year and missing some of their starting lineup and Middleton is still out with ankle injury.

4 games with 25 games left is a significant advantage.
If the bucks go .500 ish the rest of the way
7th orl woukd need to win around 65% of their games

It was a genuine question and that's not really an answer. Apparently the coaching change didn't effect the D. It was a tough road trip but they had a rough first 10 games. They played Utah, Portland, Dallas without Irving, came home and had Charlotte, Miami without Jimmy, and back on the road lost to Memphis missing everyone

Bucks have been the 6th best defense since firing AG.
He also gave you 3 different answers, so yes, that could be considered an answer.

Our defensive numbers are much better even in the results weren't. We have been missing threes, Dame was in a particularly bad slump pre-ASG, Middleton got injured. Also Brook missed a couple for his child's birth. And then we are relearning how to play as a team in games, on the fly.
This just sounds like a list of excuses. We started off real rusty with Docs new schemes, now it's coming together.

"New coach" is not really an answer. Of course he's a new coach, but what aspects of the game did it impact? It obviously didn't slow their defense, it improved quickly. Was it taking them time to adjust to the new offense? Was their issues with motivation as they adjusted etc...
The road trip doesn't explain the 2 losses to poor teams like Utah and Portland, nor does it explain the next 5 games that had losses to Heat without Butler, and a depleted Grizzlies. Middletons injury was actually an answer.
Either way, while it was fun to clown Doc, it was obvious the struggles wouldn't last that long

18-0 when Lillard shoots 50% or better, 21-2 when Lillard shoots 45% or better. Its always been on him for this teams success because GA has been nuclear all season.
Bucks D has been great since Grief got fired. Offense is now showing strides. If the Bucks get even 80% of Portland Dame they are going to be hell to deal with come playoffs.
