Jokic openly showed disappointment and called out bad teammates after his big triple double.

Unless your goal is the championship this season, the value of a MVP to an NBA player is SO invaluable. SGA should go for it while it is still within reach. You will never know what happens and how narratives change next season as shown in Tatum case. Celtics are winning but his scoring decreased by several points. With the assets OKC has, you may be able to add both Mikal Bridges and Lauri in the offseason, then the team can focus on the championship.

We won't add Mikal and Lauri in the offseason, but I actually agree with your general assessment. I'm just being selfish here a bit I guess.

I'm content with another All NBA 1st team and a decent playoff run over an MVP, but obviously for this season alone Shai might think otherwise and I wouldn't fault him for it.

Why not? Their ability and age fit well, and OKC have too many assets to consolidate.

Because they would need to accept being roleplayers for a team. Our top 3 is basically set in stone right now, we need quality role players around them, not players thinking they are stars or actually are stars.

Maybe one of those can be a possibility, but both of them? No chance.

It's also not Presti's MO so there's that as well. We'll see though, the team will surely reevaluate the needs after this season ends.

I think he's widening the gap between himself and SGA.

SGA has been killing it over the past three games as well and played better competition on average. Jokic is the best player in the world but SGA has a very strong case for MVP this year.

Looks like you don't need to wait for attacking player to jump to slap the ball in the air, you can do that on the ground level as well.

I still have Jokic as the clear best player in the league though.

I’m not sure that matters when Chet and Jalen are having better seasons than anyone on the Nuggets.

This play demonstrates the other level Jokic is on:
1. Read the ATO play from a very good coach and a veteran team who has ran 100s of these plays, intercept the pass and gain possession.
2. push the ball in transition like you're a Steve Nash
3. Go onto 2 on 1 fast break against a generational defender, who's known for his mastery at stopping these 2 on 1 fast breaks, fake the pass, euro step in the same lob you faked earlier, putting Draymond in a blender with simple fakes.

Masterclass...

I mean 32/16/16 is just disgusting lol 4 steals and a block too. Joker on another level, but SGA is playing well enough to where I'm comfortable giving the MVP to whoever finishes higher in the west.

Sga is a supermax guy, Jaylen and Chet are basically max players already (just a matter of time now), obviously not one team can pay all three plus Lauri plus another "star"

They currently are tied first, and likely will end up being the 1st.

Yeah it will take that - but I don’t see how any votes against Jokic considering he is the reining champ and the best player on earth by a mile -

The number two player (Giannis) and the number 3 player (Embiid) are either hurt or while great not as great as jokic.

Sga is having a great year but Jokic having a great decade

No respect for Draymond in all things universally and categorically-

But yeah I agree with draymond that he has no answer for draymond - but he ain’t on his level

It is a season award, Embiid hurt or Giannis not having as a great season makes SGA number two or potentially number 1, not Giannis.
If Jordan or LeBron not loading MVPs year after year, there is reasonable case for SGA. There are not necessarily stans for SGA, but plenty of voters worrying about Joran or LeBron, or other top 10 ATGs legacy. Like Celtics homers would rather Jokic not getting his 3rd MVP to threaten Bird...

I still think Lebron and Jordan definitely should have more MVPs.

The argument against more MVPs for Lebron is guys actually had better years...that’s not the case with SGA vs Jokic
