When time for our selection came I was praying for one of Dick, Hawkins or Bufkin, and when they selected Gradey I cheered from my couch because he was my favourite player in the draft.

After a few months of him struggling, I had to go back and look at some of his videos again because I didn't understand what I had missed "Was he really this bad?" I mean I've been wrong about prospects before but I felt like he was for sure an NBA player and a good shooter. How the tables have turned, already as a rookie he's making plays that stars make, and it's so clear that he understands and reads the game at a higher level than most of the vets on our team.

We are going to have a really fun end to the season and next year is going to be way better in my opinion. I've got to tip my hat to the FO, they really turned it around. The season started off with the team looking so stale but after the trades they made and the development of Gradey over the course of the season, things are looking very much on the upswing.

Has a shooter of his pedigree ever failed at shooting at the NBA level?

Although nothing wrong with a little alliteration.

But yea, I have to admit I was not a fan of the pick when it was made. Really wanted a PG (Bufkin, George, Wallace) but understood the pick considering our years lacking a competent shooter. The early season struggles certainly didn't help. Have been pleasantly impressed by his mid-season improvement.

Both seemed to struggle due to physical profile.

Though you could argue Jimmer struggled becuase he wouldn't except a lesser role.

Gradey has been much better lately. The NBA 3 is deeper than the college 3 so you would expect some time to adjust and acclimate to the new range but he's shown tons of improvement of late. I think his time in the G-League really helped him.

Stauskas? Shot 44% from 3 both years in college. He wasn't the same caliber of overall prospect though.

And Stauskas' issue was largely his physical profile which isn't as big of an issue for Dick.

How about Adam Morrison? Shot 43% from the 3 on high volume at Gonzaga. Similar physically to Dick.

He basically has taken off since the Chiefs won the Super Bowl on Feb 11. Since then he has averaged 13.6 PPG 2.8 Rebs on 62 FG% 57 3P% on 20.7 mins. His most minutes come at a time with his highest confidence.

It's nuts.

Obviously not sustainable, but a great bounce back.

He'll obviously see a regression soon, hopefully there isn't a sudden swing in "he's a bust again" and we take a shooting regression as we would with any other player.

Obviously, he'll be scouted. Gradey won't keep getting those wide open looks that he's now burying effortlessly (unlike Gary :nonono: ). But Dick has the length to rise above a closeout, and he flashed a nice sidestep in this game. He's clearly not afraid to pump fake and take it to the rim.

Not worried.

You already see it on some plays, but defences paying more attention to Gradey won't necessarily be a bad thing either, as it'll give him more gravity, and I think he's starting to show that he can consistently make the right reads when a defence overloads onto him. That should just end up creating advantage for a teammate.

HiJiNX wrote:The most impressive part of his game last night to me were when he split the D with the pass to Poeltl (or KO, I forget who), and the save on the baseline. What’s crazy is I saw him read that save the whole way. Once he saw the play developing he was like, “hey, the ball might end up in this location so I should be there” and low and behold the ball ended up where he went and he was able to be there for the save. His ability to read the game might be the best on the team, which is saying a lot on a team that features Scottie, Poeltl, and Olynyk.

I'd say Gradey is a lot more fluid than Jimmer and higher BBIQ.

Love the way Grady Dick has been playing. You can just tell the difference in decisiveness, picking his spots and just letting the ball fly.

That's pretty exclusionary and very homophobic. Why can't the lgbtq+ community love Dick?

Darko should move him into the starting lineup soon. He could go off.

I think that goes without saying right? Everyone loves Dick. Except posters in the first 20 pages of this thread.
