NBA officiating in Olympics
I'm sitting here watching the Olympic games on Youtube and realized something... the reason the gap between NBA- and non-NBA players has decreased in international play is because the game is referee'd in favor of the non-NBA players. I think the Olympics and other international games need to have two sets of refereeing standards. One would be for NBA players where they can play as they want rather than by a limited rule set and non-NBA players can play with the FIBA rules. No point in penalizing NBA athletes by making them play with rules they're unaccustomed to.
NBA players should have more leeway with dribbling as well as with things switching pivot foot in a triple threat. However, obviously to balance the advantages things like goaltending a live ball above the rim would only be allowed by non-NBA players.

No offense, but I think it is very very stupid idea. Most leagues are in fact adopted FIBA rule book, where NBA does its own thing, which they can do, their brand is way bigger than even FIBA itself, but come on, what kind of idea is this, officiate guys differently based on which league they on, what?

Yeah so we don't penalize the US team for its excellence. There's no way a team like Spain or France can compete with the US other than having a beneficial rule set that essentially takes away all of the US teams' strongest benefits such as switchable pivot foots, a more loose handle, etc. The US team basically has to play with one hand tied behind its back just to give the rest of the world a chance.

They are so excellent they can't adjust to international rules. lol
On the other hand the NBA is dominated by international player who say it's easier to play in the NBA.

In a single game, lots of teams can compete and it is not just because of rules. Also, USA is not the only team that has NBA players. Most players do fine, it is not just the rules that teams lose, yesterday Lithuania lost to Estonia, Spain lost to Belgium, more talented teams on paper lose all the time, that is why you play the game.
And it is not really anyone's problem that NBA has different rulebook, if FIBA wants to adopt NBA rules straight up, and NBA officials, that would be fine, but you want players reffed differently in the same game based if they are in the NBA or not, are you out of your mind?

They shouldn't have to adjust to international rules, though... they're the pinnacle of excellence and if anything other countries should adjust to the best league's ruleset, aka the NBA.
BTW grew up in Germany (Taufkirchen/Munchen/Erding in the 90s, also lived in Starnberg in the last 00s) and it's such a shame what a s***hole it's turned into the past decade. My condolences brother. :/
EDIT: Your country was awesome for a refugee of the Yugoslav War

They should also have courts where one half is wood covered and the other half is assfault in open air. That way people can bring their dogs to the game but people who don't own umbrellas or are prone to sunburns can watch in the covered side.
While we're at it, why don't we allow soccer players to go up against basketball players where the soccer players get to score on a soccer net. They should play as they want and not be limited by rules designed for basketball players. No point in making soccer players play with rules they are unaccustomed to.

Re: NBA officiating in Olympics
So what you're advocating for is to actually have a sporting tournament played under two different rulesets, including having both rulesets applied within the same games?
Yeah, that seems totally reasonable.

Nba rules and officials suck ass for the most part. FIBA refs aren't perfect either but I wish the nba would adopt fiba refs just so they'd quit babying grown ass men.
