I don't agree with that. I think they liked the skills that Sabonis brought to the table.
In order to acquire a player of Paul George's caliber you have to give up picks and/or a player with high upside. That's the only reason he was shipped off after year one.
Why hang on to Domas as Padwan when Presti had Adams the Jedi ?
Why not keep Sabonis as your first building block in your obviously needed rebuild instead of trading him to never win a playoff series with PG13? Why not trade Russ, Adams and Dipo for assets and rebuild when everyone knew OKC was done when KD left? Adams is as much a Jedi as Jaylin Williams. How many all-star games has Adams made? How many has Sabonis? Sabonis was the better player on the day he was traded than Adams was. Better rebounder, better ball handler, better for winning and Indiana needed a building block back for PG13 not a mediocre veteran.
He could have move Russ to LAC for picks and he would have been set up in the 2018 draft to take some kids like Luka, SGA, Trae, etc. I couldn't have been the only one pissed at the time that Presti made that stupid trade. Yes, there is a long post record on this board of me being pissed about what Presti did in that off-season it isn't hindsight it was foresight. Something Presti has proven he lacks when it comes to NBA and evaluating the Thunder. Unless you want to tell me that this year's Thunder team isn't a .500 team and Presti was right when he said this team sucks and isn't in a position to add to it in the off-season.
