It's not just Luka's defense.
They had KP and Brunson and they all left.
Brunson even said he asked the Mavs twice about an extension.
It's all about Luka, his defense is just part of the problem.
At least Steph tries on defense, Luka doesn't even try!
Well that’s the point.
They screwed up with Porzingis and Brunson.
Porzingis in particularly had a coach telling him he couldn’t post up.
Nothing to do with Luka.
They’re competing in a brutal West with mid talent.
It’s ironic you keep up bring defence when offence is the reason the Celtics haven’t won a title the last two seasons.
I would have killed for Luka’s offence in the 2022 finals.
You really think it was the coach or there was a rivalry between KP and Luka?
Luka and the Mavs had a chance to reach the finals in 2022.
But GSW shut Luka down, forcing other Mavs players to beat them.
The end result was Luka as ineffective and Mavs lost the series 1-4.
Luka doesn't play well with other star players.
There's too much evidence to ignore the fact that great players are leaving Luka instead of embracing Luka.
Take the case of the Miami Heat.
Spo and the Heat have nowhere near the talent level the Mavs have right now.
But the Cs always end up having a tough time against Miami.
Reason is Miami plays hard and their defense is excellent.
Also, didn't Celtic fans not like the my turn your turn offense of the Jays in the past?
That's what Kyrie and Luka are doing now, my turn your turn.
Basketball is more than just about one individual.
As long as Luka continues to be so ball dominant, the Mavs will never come close to winning a championship.
Luka has to learn to sacrifice.
