It's mostly downhill. The idea of pizza was fun but once that's over, we have to remember how crappy a coach Darko really is. (he has a fetish with rolling with underperforming players, maybe that's how the development coach thing stuck) And the many blunders Masai made over the years that will continue to catch up with us.

No doubt. It's the pick protection that makes it a roller coaster ride. Down to the wire with a coin flip!

We still have too many wins though, while Grizzlies, Nets and Blazers are absolutely garbage. I shouldn't rush to judge them, since we're pretty garbage ourselves, but we're putting together stupid 3 game win streaks.

But I agree, it's coming down to the wire. My hope is that we get some luck in the lottery and get the #1 pick.

Nets are garbage but they literally have no reason to tank without a pick so we should stay below them. But unfortunately we probably looking at 7th finish most likely unless grizz or Portland somehow go on a run or we completely sit everyone

Grizz are 2-13 in their last 15 and are taking their tank seriously.

Hopefully all of our young prospects will be busts so we get a really good pick. And hopefully that pick is a bust so we get a great pick the year after that. What we really need is a whole bunch of top 5 picks.....who all suck....so we continue getting top 5 picks.

Will be very hard to out-tank Memphis, might be locked into this 7th worst position.

tWo blueprint. Keep tanking until we get our Lebron/MJ. If we don’t get that then we are just treadmilling and wasting time.

Even after getting that player....Luka isn't close to winning anything and I have doubts he will be for the foreseeable future. There's a big difference between superstars and "winning" superstars.

I think Luka is a special talent and can win with the right team around him. Mavs have just failed at it. That just shows you how difficult it is.

Magic tanked for 4 years and yet they are likely still going to be looking for that top 10 player because Banchero and Franz are likely not going to get to that level.

Pistons are still looking. Hornets are still looking. Rockets are still looking. Cavs were in the
lottery for a long time and didn’t draft any top 25 players. They had to trade for one.

The team that is brought up the most is OKC and yet they didn’t acquire their top 10 player through the draft or through tanking. They acquired him through a trade which would’ve never happened had Kawhi not chosen George as his running mate. I really like Chet and Jalen Williams but I think we can all agree that those guys likely wouldn’t strike much fear in the opposition if they were OKCs top two players.

The reality is this stuff is just really hard and that’s why tanking is a last resort for teams around the league. Presti and Weltman treadmilled for 4 years before finally tanking. Masai treadmilled for two years. And at least with Masai he had a 20 year old ROTY. No one thought they should tank after their 48 win season. In fact, people around the league thought they should be buyers. Weltman and Presti thought they could build a team around Vucevic and Westbrook which is just hilarious.

I personally think Luka is a dead end franchise player. We'll see of he ever actually wins anything. I bet no.

Ironically after the KO/Ochai trade…we’re basically the Eastern Conference Jazz lol or what they were pre trade. A “fun”, tough out but not much more than that.

You broke Scotties hand, that's the only conclusion I can draw from this post

I think it would be a fitting end to the hemming and hawing of tanking, to have Scottie go down the rest of the season, and give the Spurs our pick.

Don't blame Phil, it's NinjaBro once again barking about the demise of the tWo that caused Scottie's injury

Not for me. It's contend or tank. We don't need Lebron or MJ to win another championship. Besides, we can always trade our top 5 drafted player(s) for an established star (e.g., DD and Poeltl for Kawhi, JV for Gasol) to make another run for a title.

Tanking is a winning strategy with the right combo of shrewd drafting and talent management (including good trades). Opponents of tanking preach the false narrative that tanking = getting several successive years of top 5 picks and then only relying solely on player development and doing no trades at all.

Whatever though. Tanking played a big role in laying the foundation for our 2018/19 championship. It will lead to another one too.

Might as well put Gradey in the starting lineup now. I don't think we're even going to be tanking, we're just going to be really bad.

seems impossible to catch memphis, they got blown out by portland lol and the leading scorer in the starting five had 10 points.

That’s not even a tank move at this point, that might be our best option

We’re not winning anything with Scottie out. It would be nice to see Dick really flourish down the stretch

Tank or no tank it doesn't matter. Those bottom 5 teams have always been out of reach, and Memphis is bad

With Scottie we would have won 9 or so games to close out the season (at most, and I'm being generous). Without Scottie, we end up with a few less wins. It's not going to significantly impact things I don't think

But yah, hopefully Gradey gets his minutes up for the rest of the season and we use the time for his development

GTJ shouldn’t be starting anyway. He sucks and has no future with us.

I think you are seriously underestimating how bad this offence is without Scottie. The only reason we might not overtake MEM is just lack of remaining games.

Just last night alone, 1st half stats vs 2nd half.

FG% 49% vs 34%
3P% 37.5% vs 14%
PTS 64 vs 41
AST 19 vs 12
REB 30 vs 17

The only difference from the second half yesterday and a usual game was 6min of DJ and 5min of Boucher. Scottie creates tons of offence that doesn't show up on his stat sheet.
