Lebrons points is probably beatable (but extremely hard and not for a long time) if the trajectory of scoring keeps going up, especially if they go back to drafting teenagers.

40 000 means scoring at 27 PPG, 74 games per season for 20 years straight. (27 * 74 * 20 = 40 000, with slight rounding)
So if you ever get injured or start doing "load management" like all others in the league then this kind of pace is not possible and you're going to need some 30+ PPG for 18 years (yeah good luck with that )
Of course, this is all through couple decades of CBA lockouts, pandemics and whatnot.

I can see future superstars chucking threes and running into defenders for 35 ppg for a few seasons, but the part with sustained greatness is where it gets tricky to reach whatever number LeBron ends his career with. Not impossible, but I'm not expecting to see that day.
