Probably, but it's to be expected as well. Jett isn't going to be defending like Gary year 1 even if his shooting is similar, which is probably also worse.

But the barrier of entry is also lower - Suggs got a lot of minutes despite not playing well his rookie year, and if he did the same thing this year when we had a bunch of young, established guys needing minutes, he'd be in a similar situation. A lot of it is also timing.

Also, 99% of NBA coaches do not enjoy playing a lot of rookies when trying to compete unless they are special/have to.

I didn't outright hate Keyonte in the predraft process, but I did see some some significant red flags. And nothing about what he's done so far in his rookie season has eased my concerns all that much about those red flags.

He's shooting just .438 on two point shots with Utah after shooting just .424 on two point shots with Baylor. That's 454th out of 533 players who have attempted at least one shot in an NBA game this season.

Worse than that, much like in college, he just really hasn't figured out at all yet in his rookie year how to actually get to the rim. Just 8% of his total shot attempts have come at the rim which is an incredibly low number.

And like most rookies (Anthony Black not withstanding), he's an absolutely awful defensive player and the Jazz have been terrible with him on the floor this year, his -6.7 NET is 2nd worst on their team.

I suspect he'd be getting the Jett Howard treatment here, at least this season.

Isaac didn't play at all in the first game against them.

Brunson got injured early in the game. Not sure how serious it was but its not stopping the Knicks from winning.

That's why I don't want to start a tracking thread just yet. It's fine here. People are now going to expect teams to help the Magic when we just need to help ourselves the most.

IMO you can get most of Claxton's production out of Hartenstein for a fraction of the price.

He's a good player.
