We definitely played the Pacers at the wrong time this year.

The Cavs had a 6 week stretch where they were white hot, they won 17 of 18. It wasn't exactly a murderer's row schedule, but they had a number of good wins and winning 17 of 18 is impressive even if all 18 were against the Wizards (maybe not if all 18 were against the Wizards). But outside of that stretch they've basically been a .500 team. Even if I just chalk up tonight's loss to the absence of Mitchell, that'd still be pretty concerning overall if I was a Cavs fan.

Triple doubles, not touchdowns.

Plausible.

Actually, with the assists that makes sense.

Disappointed I couldn't figure it out. #bebetter #chones

Think the biggest concern for the Cavs is Mobley looking like a good but not great player. That team's chances of becoming special entirely hinged on Mobley becoming special, and he just isn't. Maybe he has a crazy leap here in the next few seasons but I don't really see it happening honestly.

There's gotta be a real tough conversation happening among Cavs fans about what his ceiling is now, because the fact that he's in year 3 (the year where most blue chip prospects/talents really take off) and he's still largely the same 16 ppg guy who can't shoot, can't reliably create, can't punish mismatches, and still has issues with physicality and underwhelming explosiveness..has to be a bit concerning. The fact that the Knicks were missing Randle, OG, Mitchell Robinson, and could still just throw Josh Hart (who I love, but is a 6'5" wing) on him and Mobley couldn't do jack about it is quite telling.

I think that's definitely the biggest concern. I do think Mobley has gotten a little better, but its around the margins. He's still not a player you can count on offensively and is a good defender but is not anywhere near the all-defense type anchor that you'd hoped he'd start to look like at this point.

But looking at just this season, 3 weeks ago a Cavs fan could very reasonably think that they've got a pretty good path to the ECF. Embiid is out for Philly, Miami's not playing well (they had a 7 game losing streak prior to getting back on track recently), the Bucks are terrible defensively and Strus has fixed their 5th starter problem they had with the Knicks. The Embiid part of that is unchanged but Miami now looks like they're back on track, the Bucks defense has picked up and with the way the Cavs have played post All Star break they look a lot more like they're going to have another 1st round exit than an ECF team.

Yep. Mobley is closer to a Derrick Favors/Marcus Camby kind of guy than he is an actual All-Star caliber dude. That plus Garland being unable to play with Mitchell are their two biggest problems. "What can we got for a Garland + Mobley package?" is a question I'd be asking myself this offseason if I'm the Cavs front office.

Josh Hart is my Brook Lopez. One day. Some day. It happened for PP; it'll happen for me.

Really not sure why Shai isn't the slam dunk obvious MVP. Jokic still the best player in the league but he's getting too much respect this season.

The Boston Celtics shot 25-49 from 3-point range. My goodness! I wonder how many triple-doubles Giannis would have if he were surrounded by shooters of that caliber?

It's honestly crazy. And if you go into the MVP conversation on the general board it's like a cult for Jokic. No matter what point you make, for whatever player, they'll turn it to Jokic is better and not only that but he alone is in a tier of his own in the NBA and all other players are beneath him. I tried arguing that Giannis should at least be considered for MVP and SGA should actually win it with how things stand, at least so far this season, athough things can still change, but no.

Some of the commenters were saying, Jokic is the vastly superior scorer compared to Giannis, while also being a way better rebounder than him and of course is the better playmaker(no lies here). When I brought up that he still is a negative defender, they argued it's not 2020 and he is a pretty good defender now, maybe even better than Giannis as the Denver's defense is better than the Bucks' this year...

When mentioning teammates missing wide open chances generated by Giannis, they argued it's always someone else's fault for us and he can't argue anymore as he has an all-nba teammate in Dame. No matter that his stats are about the same as Murray's and some would argue they are worse.

Giannis is 10th in the league in potential assists with 12.6, and 20th in actual assists at 6.3. But with his (and ours) luck, he would still stop at 9 more times than not, lol.

The west playing currently (and a pretty good chance it stays) includes LeBron, AD, Steph, Luka, Ky, KD, Book, Beal. Basically eight guys at some point in the past year you would consider six of top 12 guys and two others all NBA caliber

Especially since Shai is young and new, so a chance to spread MVP love around. I still think that if OKC finishes ahead of Denver and Denver coasts a bit to preserve health for playoffs then it'll be Shai's to lose.

If you're a NBA team who gets their player personnel advice from a blind witch who divines the future by tossing about a bag of chicken bones, YOU ARE DOING IT WRONG
