Not disrespecting your other players, but the Magic need a star player next to Paolo. And the Magic have the assets to do so. They better get a good player for Fultz and Carter, and I believe it will happen especially if you attached a pick (if needed),
We propably have second star in Franz but i agree we need a star guard if we want to contend.
With how good Paolo and Franz are the 3rd guy doesn’t need to be a star guard, good enough with the items we need should be enough.

It doesn’t need to be a star but the magic need a third guy who can give them at least 18 plus a night.

Suggs might be there next year. He needs to just slow down when attacking the rim and pick his spots a little better.

I think you guys are too optimistic, but i dont mind that outcome.

Yeah, Suggs has surprised me with his progression so far but not expecting that kind production from him but if it does happen great.

That's fair, I almost put "a year or two" instead of next year, lol. But he's a 13 ppg scorer right now, and honestly most of his blown shots are at the rim when he's going full speed trying to get a foul. If his 3-point shooting is in the 40%+ range, and he gains more confidence and figures out how to finish better at the rim, he should be able to produce 18ppg fairly quickly in today's league of high scoring. If he also added a mid range game he'd be a 20 ppg scorer no problem.
The question is whether he can take those leaps, and assumes he doesn't regress on that shot again, lol.

Magic brass are likely hoping that one of the two of Suggs / Black develop into this 18ppg scorer. Both of them have the same defensive potential more or less with Suggs just being the more energetic of the two right now.
I would not be mad if 2 years from now Black + Suggs are giving us 15ppg each. But that is likely not how it will work out as if Blacks ceiling was higher he would have been picked higher presumably.

He went 6th. Besides if where you were picked mattered, then players like Jokic, Brunson or Fred VanVleet wouldn't be stars or productive level players.

I think you knew what I meant. A 1st pick in the draft is typically 1st for a reason most years. Some years, its less obvious, other years its a crapshoot.
To say it unilateral doesn't matter, or that it universally does or doesn't matter misses the entire point. Teams get the chance to pick the player they value best. Typically one would assume it is the best player available even if that isn't how it works out in real life.

Reading it back, I do get more of what you mean now. My apologies
However, I still disagree with the fact that just because teams passed up on him, teams that include Detroit and Charlotte btw, that that makes it less likely that Black becomes that player.
I personally do not think it's as likely because I think of Black as a defensive specialist that is fine with being a 4th or 5th option. But that assessment is just one I make while watching him. I don't want to put a cap on him either way, whether it's because of where he was drafted or because of what I think from what I see.

How good is this guy gonna be when he's 25?
This guy could very well end up being one of the best players in the sport if he can improve his weaknesses while fine continuing to fine tune his strengths.
