I know that pain. One minute knives in your heel. The next moment no pain whatsoever.

Yep, I lived it myself for quite a while when playing sport in my younger days. You just manage it. You'll hobble like an 80 year old while the achilles is cold, but once warmed up, if there's no/little discomfort you just go. (the cool-down sucks as well).

I agree with you to a point. But watching the videos of him warming up Monday night he was in some real pain. It didn't look good at all.

Ya it sure did kinda surprised me watching it. One thing Giannis is a very fast healer so I wouldn’t be surprised if he plays tonight.

Totally reasonable to be concerned. This isn't KD or Bryant, who came back from this injury and succeeded because they can shoot in addition to all the other things they do. I can't imagine another player in the league who would lose more from his game if they were to tear their Achilles.

Also ... in before some dumb Achilles Greek mythology comment if it hasn't happened yet.

khris is my absolute man but i think jimmy butler was once on the table when he was in minny.

assuming butler would have been coming and staying that would have been cool in retrospect

Giannis said no. Lockerroom may have imploded too. Seems to happen everywhere he goes. Even Miami.

That's funny. He seems like such a likable guy.

Part of it may have to do with Khris always being injured during said winning streaks.

The Khris trade discourse will come back in the offseason when we have picks and expirings to trade.

Crazy if he plays but it would not shock me, Giannis is not human and his achilles surely is not human

I of course trust the medical people as they're way smarter than any of us. But I'd hope a factor in the Giannis stuff is they're almost locked into the either 2 or 3 seed no matter what. Sure I'd rather have the 2 to avoid Bos til the end, but they should be able to outplay Cle (with Mitchell out for a big chunk) over the next 6 weeks to get the 2 regardless. Then add in that all these games are winnable and should win 2 without him that I'd certainly be weighing all this into the equation and being super cautious here. Playoffs aren't too far out now, this could be a good time to give him his own little ASB before the end of the year to get as right as possible.

I think he's only missed 3 games so he has wiggle room on MVP/All nba stuff. I wouldn't mind seeing him miss the whole trip but I'd think at least skip this one to play it safe. I'm sure everyone wants to play against LBJ, and that is an espn game so some pressure to play so could see him back for that if docs say its fine.

This couldn't be any more wrong imo. He's an outlier athlete while playing one position lower than his best spot because he wants to. If he loses a heap of athleticism, like a heap, he can just move to C and still be one of the best physical packages there. A guy like Amare fell off because he was PF sized and when he lost bounce and had to play C he wasn't long, wasn't strong, and had no defensive IQ. Giannis has none of the same issues. He'd drive less from the top and have less fast break points, sure but he's still All NBA when he returns to earth athletically.

Nah, I’d go with whatever steger or other random non-medically trained posters think. I mean, one of them called their brother who may or may not be a doctor. Good enough for me.

Love all the anecdotal personal comparisons people have from rec league experiences to Giannis. I’m sure everyone here could also have their knee bend the wrong way then put up 50 to close out their rec league.

Now let’s get back to the real topic at hand, what does everyone think of Midds?

But what I wouldn’t give to see the time Giannis, Bobby, and TA were drawing plays on a wall sized whiteboard for everyone.

I remember the questionable team chemistry I saw at the October scrimmage. Likely chance that Griffin was a big factor, given there were rumblings of a lot more trash talking in practices under him. Even in the scrimmage Bobby and Brook appeared to get heated with each other which doesn’t happen often. Seems a lot different under Coach Rivers.
