Cmon Bilal start the recruitment! If Wemby ever finds himself unhappy in San Antonio, we’re a great international city with loads of direct flights to Paris!

Two ping pong balls away from Wemby recruiting Bilal to Washington

Re: Bilal Coulibaly
He needs to learn how to slow down on his drives when he gets near the rim in traffic. He is frequently going fast on his drives which makes it hard for him to change directions to avoid the defense.
He did have a nice spin move last night for a score but overall has been pretty bad attacking the rim.

Re: Bilal Coulibaly
Is anyone besides me a little concerned by the fact that Coulibaly hasn't had one single good game since January? He hasn't cracked 50% FG% in his last 11 games and has averaged as many turnovers as assists. Over his last 11 games he is posting:
7.3 points
3.8 rebounds
1.5 assists
0.6 steals
0.5 blocks
1.5 turnovers
.333 FG%
.265 3P%
-14.5 +/-
27.3 minutes a night!
I mean, these are unbelievably bad numbers! Terrible shooting and high turnovers on extremely low usage, with virtually no steals, blocks or rebounds to offset the bad offense.

I just looked at the track record of French players in the NBA the last few years, and it's pretty bad. Other than Wemby, it's a string of disappointments. Lots of talent, not a lot of drive. The numbers aren't big, could be just an aberration. It does make me pause a bit about Sarr and Risacher, though. Talent or not, I'd be surprised if the Wiz drafted Risacher after Coulibaly.
Ousman Dieng, for whom OKC gave up three first round picks to the Knicks, is averaging 4 points and 2 rebounds a game rn. Then there's Killian Hayes...

The only worse rookie is Scoot Henderson. They are both children though, but Bilal does not look like he knows how to play basketball. Other teams have adapted are aren’t giving him wide open threes. More concerning is his defense has regressed.

He’s 19 years old playing for the worst team in the league, currently on a 16 game losing streak.
His rookie season has been fine, it’s just a slump. Relax

Re: Bilal Coulibaly
Bilal has lost some confidence on the offensive end…and it may be affecting his D as well.
But he’s a smart, naturally gifted young man and if he has a strong work ethic and the right people involved in his development he’ll be fine.
Getting bigger and stronger will also make a huge difference.

He has been awful. No offensive skill…terrible handle…gets his shot blocked every time…terrible rebounder. No mid range game. We should have taken cam?

It's too-early to shout Doumbouya!!! However, I am seriously concerned when I watch Bilal play, he looks like someone just learning to play basketball. How did Giannis look as teen?

His defensive IQ is good so i have to think his offense will come around. When he drives he typically goes fast and then tries to finish, making him too predictable. He needs to learn change of pace, fakes etc.

Critical summer for him. I’ve seen potential so I have hope but it’s Johnny Davis bad right now.

Re: Bilal Coulibaly
On the season he has 99 stocks (4 last night) and 60 made 3s. That is a nice combination.
It is easy to focus too much on his weak areas and miss what he does well. It isn't that tough to improve at finishing inside.

This. His D is already quite decent and that is only going to get better.
His 3 is good enough where it forces his man to stay with him in the corner.
This summer will be key, but if he adds just a bit each off-season he is going to be really solid. Given Kuz' and Deni's contracts and Bilal, we have a solid F rotation. At least that is something to piggyback on for the rebuild.

Doesnt turn 20 until late July. His rookie season has been very encouraging in my view. Numbers look very similar to Kawhi in his first two NBA seasons.
Would love to flip Kuzma for draft picks in the offseason and give all that usage to Deni and Coulibaly next year+either Sheppard or Topic.

This one reason I am high on Risacher as a synergistic pick _for this team_.
Zacc seems to have a really professional development team around him, focussed on improving his game in practical ways over time. Just a guess but you'd think the two young French players would have a lot to talk about in adjusting to the league, and will likely spend offseasons working together on the French NT etc. Many of the things Risacher already does well are things that Bilal needs to work on: shooting and handling against pressure, finishing despite contact and a slender frame, building strength and balance. I'd love to see the two of them growing together season after season.
Gym work can be hard and boring without motivation. Sometimes having a foil or a workout partner is all the motivation you need.
Without Jordan I don't think Pippen would have been as good. Without Curry I don't think Klay grows his game to HOF level. The obsessive focus seems to be a thing in ZR's repertoire, or at least he has a very smart team around him. Hopefully this continues past his high selection in the draft.
Me I envision a team of long defensively tough basketball fanatics, playing a team oriented game. Where we have an arsenal of 6'9" players, interchangeably swarming and backing each other up. A platoon of ZR, Bilal, Deni playing 2-4 or even 1-3 backed up by a rebounding intimidating giant in the middle. Just add ranged shooters in any position and you have a team that is tough to stop.

Kawhi per 36: 11.9 points 7.7 rebounds 1.6 assists 2.0 steals 0.6 blocks 57% TS
Bilal per 36: 11.0 points 5.3 rebounds 2.2 assists 1.2 steals 1.0 blocks 54.7% TS
Kawhi was a year older and played on a 50 win Spurs team, as opposed to a team with 11 wins, but never mind that!
