GT #63: Hornets @ Bullets 7 PM (MSN/980 AM)
YOUR Washington Bullets are 9-53!
They have lost a franchise record 16 in a row. The last time that happened was 2010 when Andray Blatche led the tank that yielded John Wall.
And they face a team that's also at the bottom of the standings.
Will the streak end?
And if it continues, when does it end?
I'm kind of hoping for it to continue... let's make history, right?

We are getting pretty close to must-win territory here. This is one of 5 remaining games in the season that are conceivably winnable. The others are:
@ Memphis on March 12th
vs Toronto on March 23rd (Barnes out with hand injury)
vs Detroit on March 29th
@ Toronto on April 7
I know we're tanking, but I don't want to end the season with just 9 wins.

Part of me is rooting for it just so Turd can continue being the worst owner in the NBA. His stupid tone-deaf popogadanist commercials have made me hate him even more.

WE are tanking; there are no "must win" games. If we finish dead last, hopefully it will serve to let the team know that building around Kuzma isn't the answer and that we aren't close yet and shouldn't short circuit the rebuild for another 2-3 years at least.

Battle of the giants tonight!
23 of the other 28 teams in the NBA have more wins than the Hornets & Wizards -- combined!

Excellent start to the game. Moving the ball, taking smart shots, rotating on defense. Granted our opponent sucks too, but sometimes have to see some silver linings.

If you paid money to go to this game you need your head checked.

Damn I don't care who your are playing in today's league, only allowing 16 points in the 1st is maybe the most impressive thing we've done this season.

After a horrific TO, Davis then gets roasted on D after being unbalanced leading to two FTs.

What in the hell are they even doing to try to get Deni involved on offense? They are parking him in the corner and not passing him the ball. Utter malpractice how this dude is relegated in games.

some players just ignore him every time... Kuz maybe his friend out court but inside he will prefer to take a shot with 2 hands on him instead of passing to Deni . Kispert as well..its rare to see him pass the ball to Deni.

Post game on court interview with Deni:
He starts by answering 'first and foremost..' and I was hearing Beal in my mind and extremly surprised when ...'it was not just us (Deni, Kuz, Poole), it was collective...' came out. Hehe

Re: GT #63: Hornets @ Bullets 7 PM (MSN/980 AM)
Watched the game this morning.
I thought the Wizards actually looked a lot better than the score. They missed an unbelievable number of wide open looks from 3-point range from good shooters (mostly Kispert and Poole). If they hit anywhere close to their average on those shots, this would have been a blowout. To be fair, Charlotte missed a bunch of threes too, but I don't think they had nearly as many wide open catch-and-shoots.
With Poole starting to look somewhat competent on offense, I was much happier with Tyus off the court during crunch time. Let's face it, in crunch time, the offense goes through Kuzma (and sometimes Poole) anyhow, so what's the point of having Tyus out there as a defensive liability? It was way better having Kispert on the court. Kispert spreads the court better and he allows the defense to switch more easily.
Coulibaly had one of his better games statistically, but he was still a liability out there. Charlotte simply was not guarding him at all, allowing them to clog the paint on defense. I'm fine with him continuing to play lots of minutes for the purposes of development, but Keefe needs to get him off the floor in crunch time in the future. The absence of Coulibaly was a key factor in our 4th quarter comeback.
I kinda liked that 2nd quarter lineup of Poole plus a bunch of defenders: Davis, Avdija, Omoruyi and Kispert. The theory of it makes sense. Let Poole cook against second unit defenses while everyone else defends. They had a not-so-great -6 net rating when on the court, but that was because Kispert uncharacteristically missed 3 wide open catch-and-shoot looks from 3.
Holmes played with a lot of energy and hustle. One of the good things about sucking so bad as a team is that forgotten guys like Bagley and Holmes come here and get playing time. They see this as their last opportunity to turn their career around and try and earn a new contract. We get really good energy out of guys like that, who will hopefully play themselves into being tradeable.

When I watch Bilal on D I am willing to be patient on his offense. He routinely makes plays on D that most guys can't.
Some nice finishes inside by Deni. A couple of them were tricky. I'd still like to see him put the ball higher on the glass
Poole can make himself useful looking to pass when he drives. He can beat guys off the dribble routinely but too often tries to force a tough finish.
