Ok, how much of a bath are the Hawks willing to take on DJ Murray? The report was two first round picks was the asking price...

SAS could use a vet PG, and that price is right for DJ. The problem is that this could look pretty embarrassing for the Hawks organization...

I think that the salaries work out this summer with SAS having ~20+ million in cap space, and Graham's partial guarantee being picked up (so his contract is worth $12M. I believe under the new CBA Graham's contract would automatically become fully guaranteed if it was traded).

Without knowing what the picks actually were that were being discussed, it's hard to tell how competitive that offer would be. Two guaranteed firsts in 2025 and 2027 would allow the Hawks to make an(other) all-in trade to get some help around Trae. I think if the Spurs use mostly cap space to take Murray back so ATL gets a decent-sized TPE, it may well beat other offers out there. No idea if the Hawks would make the "best" deal if it meant dealing with the Spurs but not even getting their picks back. But I doubt they'd get a better set up for building around Young and Johnson than something like this.

And to clarify, I wouldn't be trading Graham for matching salary if I were doing this deal. The Spurs should have the cap space to take Murray back if they send a few million out on their end. Graham's guarantee is part of that, but they might need to include Wesley or Branham, which should add value to the Hawks' side anyway.

ORL should absolutely be in the mix for DJM. He'd be a perfect fit next to Suggs.

ORL has more than enough salary space to absorb him and all of their own picks + DEN 25 and plenty of young players to discuss.
