Re: General Blue Jays Thread pt. 2
Pitchers often need to ramp up velocity in spring. Sometimes they're experimenting with pitches. Obviously with Manoah's struggles last season, any bad outing will get put under microscope but need to see more. They still never clearly explained cause of his struggles in 2023, we're left guessing.
Organization can be defined as an organized body of people with a particular purpose. Not random.

I think the biggest issue with Manoah last year was his mechanics. He was constantly fighting them and struggling to command his pitches. Being out of shape and trying to get used to the pitch clock didnt help, but he just couldnt throw the ball where he wanted to last year. That is why his first start this spring was so troubling to most. Even if the velo os up it wont matter if he can’t command the baseball again.

So. Spring training barely begun and already we have Tiederman injured, Gausman injured and Manoah injured. Heard on the radio this morning that both Gausman and Manoah were taken for MRIs on their shoulders due to "soreness" which we all know is just PR speak. Sigh.

We walk in the dark places no others will enter.
We stand on the bridge, and no one may pass.
We live for the One, we die for the One."

Really good day for Vlad at the plate so far. To fly balls with over 110 MPH exit velo. One for a huge home run and another that was a line out but had a xBA of .780. I want to believe he has a huge season in him.

Joey Votto on why he signed with Blue Jays: ‘I think I can still bang’ - The Athletic
The newest Toronto Blue Jay, Joey Votto, reports to spring camp Saturday and he believes his surgically repaired shoulder is healthy enough for him to contribute to his hometown team.
“I feel excellent. I am pain-free. It is a joy,” Votto said to The Athletic in a text message Friday afternoon. “I think I can still bang.”
Votto, 40, agreed to a minor-league contract with the Blue Jays on Friday. He said he will report to camp Saturday. Votto said he expects to start the season in the minor leagues and earn his way onto the big-league roster.
“I am grateful that I am in tryout mode right now,” Votto wrote. “This reminds me of when I was 18, flying down to Sarasota, Florida, to showcase and develop my skills as a new Cincinnati Red.”
Votto said “it appears” that there were major-league deals available to him, but he agreed to the deal with the Blue Jays on Friday. He said it was only “a few days ago” that he felt the deal could happen with the Blue Jays.
While making the Blue Jays could be a fulfillment of that dream, it wasn’t his first choice. He said he wanted to return to the Reds.
“Early in the offseason, I wanted to sign a similar non-roster deal with the Reds to finish my career in one uniform,” Votto wrote. “I recognize that is an odd objective, but I meant what I said about retiring if I am no longer a competitive player.”

As a fan and a previous Business Marketing graduate, not sure I'm feeling this marketing slogan/motto... Feel like there could have been something more specific & creative relating to the team and/or city... "To the Core" is very general and could be used for any team, in any city, and for any sport.
