It's okay I'm still willing to take apologies. Dude has rested on the laurels of his team succes for years. Now he's on the closest thing the league has to a super team and he's somehow better?

He's a top 3 player in the league when he plays Philly, that's it. At best in the league he is a top 7-10 player, but you can make an argument he's not even top 10.

His performance against the Nuggest just now was pathetic. He's a one dimensional scorer who relies on two moves, 3 point shot and his dribble fadeaway which he most of the time pushes off people to get the seperation he requires. He's not elite at driving to the basket, but when he tries is an above average defender.

As I've said he's a manufactured star by the NBA, and is not in the same stratosphere as player like Joker, Embiid, Doncic, Curry, LeBron.

It’s so sad to come in here after someone has a single bad game yet there’s crickets after he wins player of the month.:roll:No bias at all…… At least he actual plays. It’s a lot easier to win a mvp when you’re resting for a third of the season.

It's not a single bad game, he's been mid his whole career, and all season. He basically shows up at times in the playoffs, and does it a lot against Philly. We've now gotten to the point where you actually know that he's not MVP worthy or the best player in the league, so we now go to, atleast he actually plays. Didn't realize being the best in the world is determined on playing the most game. It's not a participation award lol. Obviously there are exception, and Embiid can't compete for the MVP this year with missed games, but lol at that excuse. Oh yeah Embiid was clearly resting, let's ignore the fact he's been injured the entire year. Good lord some of ya'll defend this guy so much it's like you have shamrocks coming out of your ears.

Jokic can't guard his own shadow lol. He's destroying this Nuggets team just like every dynamic guard does in the postseason.

Just like last season when Denver lost to those dynamic guards in post season.. oh wait

Ant and Booker did torch them to be fair. It wasn’t like they really found an answer for them. It’s the one true weakness I think they have, but luckily they’re so good offensively that it just doesn’t matter.

There's nothing sad about it.

Player of the Month doesn't mean he's the best player in the league. He's good. He's also benefiting from the team on which he plays in terms of perception. He had an especially good February over 10 games. It is the 4th Player of the Month award he's received in his career. People know he's pretty good, but he's still being notably outperformed by a bunch of other guys, and the same basic constructs of his career remain in his performance. He'll wax and wane based on his 3pt shooting, his impact markers are similar to his usual, and we should be spending a lot of time talking about Jaylen Brown and KP.

Literally no notable improvement over last season and somehow he is top 5 now?

Jokic
Embiid
SGA
Giannis
Luka

He isnt better than any of these guys. All of them would upgrade this celtics team by a good margin.

Quite frankly i dont think he is better than guys like old lebron, curry, durant, kawhi, etc either.

Its debatable he is even top 10….

He really isnt more impactful than guys like brunson.

People need to separate the team from the player. Tatum gets a lot of cred for no reason for simply being on stacked teams his whole career.

i get having a preference of Giannis or Luka over Tatum i really do - they offer different things. I'm a C's fun and to be honest i'd take Luka back in his draft day over Tatum too. But - all of these players have their own unique weaknesses. Luka doesnt play D, Giannis cant shoot, Biid seems to be unable to deliver in the PS. You're saying Tatum has been in stacked teams all his career. He went to teh conference finals with Smart, Rozier and Brown  . Kyrie and Gordon were injured or gone. Al is 35 and was one step from retirement in Philly. Smart is smart. How are the C's stacked in his career? This year yes, C's on paper probably have one of the best starting 5 in the league. but previous years? That team could go as far as the duo could take them and not a step further.

Again, i'd trade TD garden for the Joker - i think he is one step above everyone else. unquestionably the best player in years.

I silently hate Tatum, but guy is obviously one of the best players of the entire league. Thats non debatable. He's definitely, absolutely choked on the grand spot though, thats also true.

I wouldn't go that far. There's Kawhi Leonard, Kevin Durant, Anthony Edwards, Steph Curry and Jalen Brunson. I would also take playoff Lebron over playoff Tatum.

Debatable. Is he better than KD, Lebron, Steph even when those guys are on last legs? Most likely not.

I don't understand why people make these threads. We are talking about a superstar player that is leading the best team in the league. He should go into every game feeling like he is the best player on the court he is more than capable of being the best player in any game he plays against any competition.

He´s on par with Kawhi and Steph. KD has fallen a bit this season, but is still a superstar. Tatum is ahead Edwards today (maybe not in the future) and he´s ahead Brunson by miles. I still would take Tatum over all these guys

Talk about delusions of grandeur...

Someone needs to set this guy straight in the playoffs. Yeah yeah, he does it to Embiid every year. He's got a good record in the playoffs, but by no mean is he the best player in the world.

I'd argue the following are all better than him.

Embiid
Jokic
Giannis
Luka
SGA
Steph Curry
Kevin Durant
Jimmy Butler
LeBron James

Centers alwaya have to be put in a different class. Embiid/Joker

After that, Giannis, Luka - I take Tatum over the rest.

Replace Celtics Tatum with any of these guys, are they the same team? I would say no on most. Giannis can’t shoot, Luka a ball stopper, SGA/ Curry lead guards who demand too much ball.

Lebron and Durant - if those guys are playing so great why are they barely .500?

Lastly, BUtler….most overrated player of this generation. Doewsn’t beloing in the class of everyone else.

I think about the opposite all the time. What would happen to those other teams if you listed were to swap Tatum?

Dallas/Milwaukee would unquestionably be way worse. The only teams that might improve would be the Lakers and the Heat

Imagine how many 7-21 games Tatum would throw up without the backing of a balanced team

If Tatum wants to answer questions like this by saying he's the best rather than the 4th best(not that he is but you get my idea) I don't really care. At the end of the day his primary concern should be winning a title, not where he actually ranks as a player.

Jokic, Giannis, and Doncic are *clearly* better than him

Why is Embiid better than him? Because Embiid dominates bad teams in the regular season? Embiid is one of the worst playoff performers ever and levels below post season Tatum.

Is Kawhi better? If you told me I’m guaranteed to get a healthy Kawhi in the playoffs, I’d probably take Kawhi, but KL had a worse overall combined RS+PO than Tatum has over the last 4 years

SGA is better but has accomplished diddly squat.

Curry and LeBron are probably better still but it’s hard to tell.

AD has had an up and down career and unaccomplished on his own.

I think the tier list is something like

1. Jokic by far
————————
2/3. Giannis and Doncic
————————
4+. Varies between Tatum and others (Embiid, LeBron, Curry, Davis, Leonard, Durant, Booker, Mitchell, Butler, Kawhi, etc) depending on how you value talent, regular season play, post season play, health, consistency, etc.

Tatum is the only one in that group that checks every box but he’s in the middle ranking of each group.

How you value RS dominance and PS choking like Embiid, or being completely unreliable like AD or Kawhi, vs a safer but lower upside Tatum depends on the person.

Meanwhile, Joey Mazz is defending Tatum's pedestrian 26 points and then comparing him to Tyrese Maxey. Funniest part is that Maxey didn't even play that game, it was Bev who had a season high in that game.

Point being, if Mazzulla needs to defend Tatum by comparing him to Maxey who is only in his 4th year and made his first all star team, you know he's not even close to being in contention for MVP and for that matter best player in the league.

Durant is quietly having a great year. I think the Celtics would have a better chance at the title if he replaced Tatum this season.
