RealGM, Community Film Analysis

Post#1 » by WintaSoldier1 » Sat Mar 16, 2024 3:33 pm

A great way to further community interactions and increase quality of conversation here would be to engage in the same subject matter(the film) at the same time… While using Discord/Skype/Any other social platform that is not REALGM obviously hurts RealGM’s legitimacy as our dependent source of communication, we need to find a way all to turn on the same tape at the same time, watch some condensed film together and engage in idea commerce.

My best thought as of now to do so while not hurting REALGM’s activity is to create a forum in here alike to how team forums create a thread for every single game. Admittedly I think this will have more value for us during the playoffs, or during the summer off season. But I think the time is right for us to take our sense of community to the next level by participation of communal education

Not saying I don't like the idea of a film focused subforum or whatever, but simply logistically, a platform like discord where instant conversation is simulated is alot more conductive to this than a forum where people post things in an editor and click submit.

Useful tracking requires vetting and often eptestilogical babbling which takes a lot longer on a forum than it does in a chatroom

For what it's worth we have some realgm-forum based film-tracking going on right now right now though we're at pause due to a mix of buisness and are looking for more people to help.

There are possible real human beings on this forum arguing that Sam Jones is better at basketball than demar derozan regardless of era there is a 0% chance the eye test here is good

Please stop the derisive insulting of persons who do not view basketball through your lens. trex

Your eye test isn’t good being a personal insult is one of the funniest things I’ve ever seen

I don't think some people value my eye test based on the above, but if anyone is interested I can provide literally hundreds of clips and tracking data for Russell, Wilt, Kareem, Gilmore, Moses, Hakeem, Shaq and Duncan. These are the ones I have studied extensively. I also have (unfinished) shooting chart for Rick Barry in my database.

Of course I can also provide footage if anyone is interested.

It's good relative to the alternatives at least(including alternatives who are paid for it). Paticularly now that **** gets scrutinized more seriously

Especially as Playoffs begin to ramp up, I think us coming together; Watching a game, and at Halftime and at the end of the game/ During the game building a analysis of what we’re watching to build a collective conscious would be so viable. Will be looking to return to this in a month or so time when it’s post season

I think you could probably get a few users on Reddit or Twitter or tiktok that could clear if you selected carefully

would it compete with a similarly carefully selected realgm sample?
