Discussing Jokic vs SGA is a joke, engaging in that would be embarrassing.

I have Jokić as MVP too, but if you think SGA doesn't belong in a conversation against him you simply don't give SGA his dues. Guy's a Top 5, maybe Top 3 offensive anchor this season while being an All-Defensive Team level defender, and his team is only half a game off the #1 seed in the West.

This clip is why OKC should have went for a big instead of Hayward. Jokic is playing vs Wemby like with 7y old kid. Same will be with Chet when he turns it on in playoffs.

I love SGA and I think he's still right there in it, tho by now with the Nuggets recent form and Jokic's dominance probably a bit more back then he was for most of the season. meaning I thought they were neck to neck for most of this season, Jokic is probably a bit more ahead now

but regardless, I think the defensive take is pure exaggeration
OKC currently has about the 5th best defense, last season they were 14th

Chet is the defensive anchor of this team, that's just how it works positionally
J-Dub is a great defender in his own right, Dort is a pretty good defender and tbh was known mostly for his defens and physicality before this season and Chet leads the Thunder in DRTG and is obviously a very impactful defender already.

SGA's talents fit likle a glove and he can help around, lurk, provide POA defense etc. he's an excellent defender and in the context of this elite defensive team - he's a great defender that can maximize his strengths and effect on that end of the floor but let's not act as if he's "anchoring" a top 5 defense

how much would we be talking about SGA's defense if he was playing in Fox's role alongside Sabonis, Murray etc.?

it's pretty hard to gauge the indivudal defensive contributions as both SGA and Chet have basically played all the games, SGA at 56 and Chet at 66. for reference, SGA has played 2239 mins this season with 1438 of those are with Chet

In an average year, you could say that Jokic, SGA, Giannis and Doncic have all had MVP level years without argument. But overall, Jokic keeps doing his thing and doesn't have anything stopping him doing his thing and I guess it's polite to consider he got screwed out of one last season so I'd be fine with giving him his owed third.

You clearly misread my post if you think I said he was anchoring their defense. Read it again.

yeah, kind of but also I'm just not so sure SGA has been that elite, as some posters here are making it our to be.
even urself, All defensive team? i'm not sold on that tbh

this team has Chet, Williams to guard to bigger wings and some forwards and it has Lu Dort who usually takes the toughest assignment, am I missing something here?

this is an elite defensive unit, SGA certainly more than does his part but an all-defensive team?
it's fair to say that guys that are the main scorers for their team, initiate alot of the offense etc. and like SGA are one of the most premier scorers in the league don't usually carry a heavy defensive load, in fact they are often average or even a liability

SGA's 2-way ability as the #1 offensive weapon is def pretty rare nowadays (tho there are some who fit the bill, obviously), so it's def notable but yeah, i'm not sold on him being THAT caliber of a defender, gaudy steals numbers notwithstanding :)

Jokic, SGA, Luka, and Giannis are all very deserving candidates. Can't be upset if any of them win it

That's exactly what I thought when I watched those clips. The 40 year old dad that comes to the Community Center to play with his middle school son and friends. Down to the no jump 3pnter, bunny hop lputback, and old man float game. IT's hilarious how easy he makes it look

There is no MVP case for him, he should play to keep the 6th seed hope.

Curry and Tatum are my only 2 MVP this season now that Maxey is out of the running for not having enough games under his belt.

Luka just won the MVP tonight. Jokic robbed back to back years.

Calling it here. Narrative changes.
