AD..availability, market value, offers

Post#1 » by Mike lorenzo » Sun Mar 17, 2024 9:34 am

What could the Lakers get for AD? Is there a trade that makes them better? Maybe trade him for several quality players, for example, the Bulls for Caruso/White/Vuc+Picks, the Hawks? What teams would they offer? Or on the contrary, is it better to keep him? In my opinion, although he is an excellent player, he misses too many games to be the old Lebron's partner.

Mitchell+Allen for Davis+JHS

This is only fair if Mitchell doesn't extend and is considered expiring.

To Hawks: AD + Vincent

To Jazz: #10 (24 Hawks 1st) + #28 for #13 Swap (2024 Lakers 1st) + 27 Lakers 1st (now unprotected) + 29/31 Lakers 1sts (unprotected) + 28/30 Lakers Swaps + JHS + Bufkin or Griffin

To Lakers: Markkanen + Murray + Capela

AD would be great in Atlanta. Hawks tell Trae “we traded for a star, be happy.”
Davis | Okongwu (OO load management depth)
JJ or Hunter
Hunter or JJ
BB (Sexton or Clarkson involved in deal?)
Trae

Ainge gets a huge offer for Markkanen.

James gets Lakers to go all-in.

Let's be serious. AD is a much more impactful player than Kyrie based on defensive versatility alone.

Dallas is going to have to add a big and a pick to this

AD has never seemed eager to return to CHI, imagine a hometown discount if you like but he's not going to be any healthier in Chicago it's just a no way idea

LeBron needs a win now player.

Embiid always felt like the most reasonable AD trade.

AD is hands down the number 1 player the Hawks need for what we do. He upgrades our defense and size at Center while also giving us a legit stretch 5 and star player. I have wanted him as a hawk for a long time now. If he can stay healthy he is the guy we need to go after if available.

Idk if it’s realistic or fair, but AD back to New Orleans for BI and Val is definitely the funniest option.

What does that trade package look like? Seems like if AD is traded, then LBJ is also on the way out, right? Seems unlikely LBJ would trade his BFF AD. Hawks would want to keep Young right? And also JalenJ and probably Okongwu, too? Or is this a Trae for AD based trade?

Young+ Capela for AD...
OR
Murray+Capela++ for AD

Okongwu and Johnson are ideal frontcourt players with AD. Would be fun times

Like the idea AD of swapping AD and Markannen . But don't see Lakers willing to add two unprotected picks, making an existing pick unprotected and two swaps for Murray and Capela.

Not sure why they'd need to add all of that given AD >> Markannen. Guy's a top-5 defender in the league while being a #2-3 offensive option (depending on cast). Markannen isn't anything close to that defensively, and while he's the better scorer, is also not a #1 option (at least, yet).

I don’t see LAL shopping AD. There’s no real trade Imo that makes them better because a healthy AD is still a top few player in league.

But if they did, his “low” max next year makes things interesting as teams who can’t aggregate - can trade for him and it’s easier for non tax teams to match him in general..

I don’t think there’s an offer that makes them a better team honestly.

For Dallas I guess I’d go Kyrie, Gafford for DAR? Throw in a DAR/PJ swap, or a PJ/Vincent swap?

Some of us have grown very attached to the Landlord, but this seems to be valuing Kyrie at least one good first below AD, which feels about right? Not sure.

Not looking at Dallas, I like Atlanta a lot here more than Chicago. AD/Demar/Zach will be really expensive and only really contend if AD plays as an MVP through a playoff run..

That is fair opinion. Value can be banged out, but some version of:

AD to Hawks

Markkanen + Murray + Capela to Lakers

Value of AD > Murray/Capela from Hawks to Jazz
Value of Markkanen/Murray/Capela > AD from Lakers to Jazz

OKC with an offer of Giddey, #11 (Houston), OKC's best 2025 FRP, Miami 2025 FRP, lottery protected in 2025 if it doesn't convey in 2025 it is unprotected in 2026, OKC's best 2026 FRP and OKC's best 2027 pick.

You would need to find a 3rd team. None of this benefits James…errr Lakers. Picks package just doesn’t work.

Markannen and Sexton?

…volunteering “best pick” 3 drafts in a row on top of a lottery pick, another first and Giddey.. that’s a lot of actual value. That’s pretty crazy that OKC could legally do that trade with cap.

But LAL should be able to flip for Lauri or any star with that package.. that’s on OKC to figure out though I think.
