We absolutely had the Knicks 2024 1st Rounder + Fournier's expiring contract to create more cap space this offseason.

However, our management will continue to make the obvious move 1 offseason too late lol.

That's because they couldn't agree to a trade with us. They didn't want to give up Grimes but we're forced to because of that. It's already been reported this way...

It was the ‘25 pick that was the issue. Knicks didn’t want to give up 2025 pick.

I’m not sure the Raptors wanted Grimes. I was high on Grimes as a trade target but I think that was a mistake. He has stunk it up in Detroit. 3/23 from 3 over his last 5 games. 21/14 shooting splits in Detroit granted only 6 games.

Brown can be waived. We can open up a lot of cap. You can’t have cap room in season due to the rules. And honestly being a cap team isn’t very good because you’re letting go of a lot of salary above the cap that takes time to accumulate.

Even if the Raptors elected to go into the off-season with cap room (which they still can but I don’t believe they will), they’d use it to take salary back with picks. There’s no FAs worth anything in the market.

So our only path to cap space is waiving a guy who we turned down a 1st round pick for. Yup, sounds like the Raptors Front Office since 2020 lol.

And sure... even if we didn't sign anyone, just the luxury to get assets with that cap space would be nice. If we give our pick to the Spurs, we are going to be practically the same team next year, which is barf worthy.

Exactly... we wanted any pick from 2025 onwards and the Knicks want to save all those for a potential future trade. We didn't want the 2024 pick 1st Round pick. The fact we got dudes trying to tell me otherwise is hilarious lol.
