it used to be that a 7th or 8th seed guaranteed you a playoff berth but for some reason the nba did away with this system

Yes, the play-in was a fantastic addition to give more teams hope which means less teams tanking while adding some more playoff level games to the season unlike the in season tourney which is a blatant money grab that's going to have issues when some player goes down with a major injury because they're playing too hard, too early in the season, some players use the off-season to rest their bodies and use the first part of the season to get back up to speed for the long season.

Completely agreed. I'm happy with the play-in it has a clear purpose and makes things more interesting. The in season tourney on the other hand is an absolute disgrace and joke to me haha.

The league is making crazy amounts of money and are willing to sell their souls to make more. Hated the idea of putting ads on the clothing and now a stupid in season tourney they implemented with it having really no reason to be played although they'll try to tie something to it to try to make it make sense.

Want to fix the NBA All-Star weekend? REMOVE THE ALL-STAR GAME and put in a 1 on 1 tourney and a 2 on 2 teammates tourney, let teams with the players say who are available for these tourneys and let the fans vote on who gets in. It'll be way more exciting.

Jimmy ruled out.

Offense through Duncan/Bam again. Run it until it stops working.

Yes, I think it makes the season overall more competitive and limits tanking. Anyone not in the top 3-4 of a conference usually don't have much of a chance so I'm good with 7-10 having to have a mini tourney to make it to the playoffs. It also allows a team who figured it out somewhere in the middle of the season or had a key injury a chance to make the playoffs to not have a lost season. What I really would like seen tossed into the playoffs, the home teams get to pick which away team they want to play each series making it even more important to have a high seed, it would stop some of the jockying for positions where some good teams coast or basically try to lose.

The only real reason Miami's has been or still is in the play-in is because Butler doesn't give good effort most of the season although he's paid the max. He's my favorite player but his mindset has changed greatly in the last few years.
