Re: 2024 Draft Prospects
I'd be cool with Holland. He could bring some similar impact as the Thompson twins. That's who I think he compares to. I'm cool with a player in that mold.

Re: 2024 Draft Prospects
Hollands write up reminds me of mkg who i believe would have had a better career in another team who were better at developing

I know some of you have been saying we need another legit scorer.
Would you trade our top 5 pick for a guy like Jalen Green from the Rockets?

That's a definite no for me. Even with his POTW this week he's not getting a top 5 pick from anyone.

Agree…no more small poor shooting percentage SG’s on this team. Having said that I doubt they’d trade him for any top 5 pick this year…maybe for the #1 pick if they just fell in love with a guy. They have so much young talent already.
I continue to wait...and hope...for the return to Hornet's glory.

nah i'd rather see if one of Mann, NSJ, etc grows into being that key bench scorer. That's the kind of flyer you take with a pick in the 20s, not top 5
investigate Adam Silver

Re: 2024 Draft Prospects
In his latest mock, Sam Vecenie (Athletic) says Stephon Castle is the perfect fit between LaMelo and Miller. A ball handling wing defender who will move the ball, defend, and create some offense for himself and others. Not a great shooter but he improve in that area like Anunoby.
LaMelo and Miller will space the floor just fine, so no rush on Castle mastering a 3 ball. We have NSJ to insert in the guard spot when we need more spacing.

Re: 2024 Draft Prospects
Holland is probably underrated at the moment because of the lack of success we have from GLeague and more notably Scoot so far.
His Per 36 numbers are better than Scoot.
Holland 22 ppg, 7.5 rpg, 3.3apg, 1bpg, 2.3 spg 56% TS
Scoot 21.1 ppg, 6.1 rpg, 7.5 apg, 0.5 bpg, 1.2 spg 54.6% TS
One was considered the #1 pick in most drafts. The other is not even worth a top 5 selection to most? Scoot was 19.4 yrs old on draft night, Holland will be 18.7 yrs old. Tell me how any of that makes sense so far...

and before we get on a kick about Per36.
Holland had better per game numbers.
19.5 ppg vs 17.6 ppg

Castle is not the best prospect, but in terms of fit he is the highest on my board.
Of all the players I think he is least likely to bust. He has other skills to rely on if his shot is not falling. I would be comfortable drafting him.

Re: 2024 Draft Prospects
I do like Castle.
Solid Name, lots of meme potential there for Castle... Queen City... Setting up walls on defense... shooting from distance... etc.
Cool Hair, looks like an NBA player
6'6 with a 6'9 wingspan, good frame for a young guy
Strong defender, attacks the basket, and most importantly
GOT DAT DAWG INNUM

Re: 2024 Draft Prospects
I think it is important for the team to add not only defenders, but just good athletes.
Right now we kind of lack good to great athletes on the team.
Miles is really the only plus plus athlete we have which in certain matchups can be a problem.

Castle and Holland are my two favorite prospects for this team, so I'm liking where the discussion is right now.

Holland is bigger, although I do have some doubts he is a full 6'8'' as he listed. Holland is a more aggressive player both on defense and offense often rushing passing lanes, charging into defenders in the paint. I view him more as versatile wing being able to play 2-4.
Castle is a bit more of a tactician on defense winning with angles, strength and good technique. He is probably more like 6-4/6-5 but I will be happy to see him in at 6-6. I think he is a bit more of a combo guard than Holland and probably has a safer floor as a smart defender, ball mover and solid floor game type.
I like both, if you want to play it safe I think Castle is the better option, but Holland because of his superior size, athleticism and aggressiveness I think he has the better star power.

Re: 2024 Draft Prospects
I think this draft was declared a long time ago to be a big POS and that is making guys like Holland not seem as good as they could be. There's no Wemby in this draft, but there's no Wemby in any draft. If we didn't have Wemby last year, I wonder how this draft would be viewed.

I would say forget Wemby comp... this draft just lacks guys like Paolo, Chet, Cade, Mobley, Zion, Morant... all those guys were just better prospects then what we have this year. That mixed with a lot of the top 10 is euros/gleague and I think that just leads to people not being as high on guys because they have seen less live games.
Sarr, Holland, Topic, Williams, Risacher are all good enough to be 4-8 in nearly every draft. But just none of them feel good taking them top 2.

He would be ideal in a Nets trade with the Nets sending one of their 3nDs back since they have so many

Re: 2024 Draft Prospects
Castle also has the ball handling ability to play both guard spots. I look at him as a guy who can do all the little things that's asked of elite role players. If his jumpshot improves then we might be looking at a Jimmy Butler caliber player. His other skills are clearly there it's just his jumpshot that needs work.

I have a hard time seeing Castle ever being the leading scorer on his team in the NBA like a Jimmy Butler tbh. I like him but I don't think his realistic ceiling is that good of a player.
