Miami-Phoenix-Minnesota

Post#1 » by _GH0ST_ » Fri Mar 22, 2024 1:31 pm

Miami in: Devin Booker, Karl Anthony Towns
Miami out: Jimmy Butler, Tyler Herro, Jaime Jaquez

Phoenix in: Jimmy Butler
Phoenix out: Devin Booker. Nassir Little

Minnesota in: Tyler Herro, Jaime Jaquez, Nassir Little
Minnesota out: Karl Anthony Towns

Why for Miami: Leaving Butler's timeline and starting a younger Big 3

Why for Phoenix: Butler is currently a better playoff player than Booker and makes Phoenix more likely to win a championship in a few seasons. Beal-Butler-Durant-Nurkic legal contender team.

Why for Minnesota: Getting two young guys who fit Edwards' timeline. Jaquez is a very solid rookie. Herro could replace aging Conley. Now you have the opportunity to give Naz Reid the role he deserves.

I have Booker worth more than Butler. I consider him the better player, while also being significantly younger.

Yea Miami stealing value here. Butler is great but rapidly aging, JJJ is a nice young piece, but KAT is proven, and Herro sucks

I don't see Phoenix wanting any part of that trade

Little isn’t needed in this since Booker will make more than Butler. since it seems unnecessary for him to be in it..

But I would say Booker is worth more than Butler and it’s hard to fix that. Honestly feel like Booker is worth enough more than Butler that Miami is better off just sticking with Butler..

Also don’t love it for Minnesota. JJJ is a really nice prospect, but Minn should get more for KAT.

_GHOST_, you really should enjoy the Butler years while they last. He's a special player.

The only reason to consider this for the Wolves would be to save money and I really hope they don't go down that path. I expect the new ownership group in Minnesota wants to build a new arena, and doing a deal like this would be a terrible start towards building the support they will need from the fanbase and the community. My hope is that the Wolves pay the big tax bill for at least one season and making winning their clear priority.

Wolves pass. This isn’t enough for KAT.

Nah, not giving up Jaquez, Robinson, Herro, and 3 firsts for an over the him Durant. That's too much.

Not saying Heat should line up for this deal (your opinion) but not all 1sts are created equal. It might be “three 1sts” but really meh.

24 non lotto 1st from weak draft (that Heat drafted)
31 will come with one chance, can’t carry over, highly at risk even happening because…
25 AND 27 Heat 1sts (owed to other teams) come with lotto protection and punt to next year. Which if EITHER one of those scenarios happens, pushes 29 mentioned to 30 and 31 never is traded.

So, you can see, it might read “3x 1sts” but a lot going on with the draft capital.
