But we are fine right now? We kept largely the same team as last season, we’re beating play-in expectations and our young guys are improving. At the start of the season we didn’t think we had a reliable backcourt shooter outside of Harris and Cole, but now Suggs has established himself as legit.
Had we rushed to address perceived weaknesses then, Suggs may not have had the opportunity to become who he is this season. I agree that players should have to earn roles, but they should be in positions where those chances are realistic, and not necessarily trying to beat out JRue Holiday for a starting spot.
The team isn’t going to get another shot in the future for them to gamble so heavily on player development, which is why I think they give it another year next season.
