Was he just not practicing threes the last four years.
Except he got better over his time in college in both FT and 3P%. This year he has regressed.
Just like the 25% comment, you're wrong / not actuallly looking up stats.
One thing that is interesting is FT% and 3p%.
College:
69 / 31
67 / 34
69 / 38
74 / 41
NBA
81 /35
71 (75 with Utah) / 31 (33 with Utah)
It's his size too, it's not just the shot. He's a decent defender at SG, but he's too small for a SF. He's average against bigger SF's and most are 6'7"-6'9". He's generously listed at 6'5". He's not an OG replacement on either end.
So, then it becomes do you see him at SG or PG. Those are more natural positions for his size. Maybe slide him to guard and have him stop shooting.
This is Agbaji's 2nd year in the league, not his 5th. His shooting has regressed this year, especially here, but, looking at his shot, there's no reason to think he won't become a good shooter. Many, if not most, players take time to develop their shots, and sophomore slumps are a very real thing. On our team alone, Barnes is almost at league average from 3 after a weak rookie year and a very weak sophomore campaign, Quickley was good in his rookie year, regressed in year 2, and has been above average since, and Barrett has been up and down, but has seen a nice improvement in Toronto.
With all of the injuries and other absences, the lineup is substantially undersized, which is why Agbaji has actually been lining up at 4 a lot. He's definitely small for that, but his strength allows him to do a passable job. He's certainly not OG, but that won't be his role in the future. As to shooting, he's taking 7 shots a game, of which 3 are 3's. As he grows into the system, and his 3 improves, that will be about right for his role in the offence.
