(Sorry. Too soon?)
Even us Raptors fans where scratching our heads when he left the game. We're trying to find video footage of this incident even happening.
I hate to say it, as he was showing some potential as a floor spacer and passing ability, but all signs are pointing to that he did it... especially when the same scenario happened twice.
I have to think... where there other people in on this? (If the facts are true)

Without a doubt in my opinion - We may never know the extent this went (if, as you say, it is true)

Nah he got paid for leaving those games. Do you really think it’s a coincidence?

The ultimate outcome of recently embracing gambling is obvious.
This first real instance is actually the best the NBA could have hoped for. It does not involve officials or stars or final scores.
NBA got lucky this time. Next time…

Re: Jontay Porter betting on himself
The thread title should be changed to "Porter betting against himself". I thought he just chose to forgo a lucrative Euro offer to try to make it in the NBA or something. This is so much worse.

Also…this would represent a lot of money. He was going to be making more than his salary or he is a dummy.

They would have to be. All of the betting sites ask for your ID/financial info in order to sign up, so he'd have to have used an intermediary.
The sites would also keep a special eye/set limits on player prop bets of this nature so the amount bet would at most have been in the 1000s or at most 10s of thousands which makes it all the more ridiculous that he'd risk everything for such a relatively small payday.

I mean there's too much inside info on these things every single day. Even for innocent stuff if someone overhears someone else who's working with a team, they can make these kinds of bets. How is NBA gonna police all that?
That's a good question and for the NBA and/or the betting sites to figure out. For the sites integrity you can't have people w/ insider info having the upper hand on regular bettors. But that's very hard to monitor obviously. Any coach for example could EASILY manipulate prop bets obviously by just reducing a guys minutes or telling a player "Don't shoot 3's anymore", etc etc.
Why? Betting is the bettor vs the house. Other bettors aren't impacted. Am I missing something?
Yes you are correct. And that's not a counter to the point I made. When I say the sites need to maintain integrity I am referring to fairness. Of course in the short term they won't be impacted and will make the same amount of money, but in the long term people won't want to bet if they believe they are competing with others who have info they don't. It's similar in the stock market - Does insider trading and people with insider knowledge game the system sometimes? Sure. But to maintain integrity the stock market and betting sites better do whatever they can to limit that.
I say this as a somewhat regular bettor myself too. For example, I bet Evan Mobley to have over 11.5 points tonight. He was on a minute restriction 20-25 so it was somewhat lower but I felt confident he'd get there. Fortunately Cleveland made it an emphasis to give him looks tonight & he easily went over. In the case Cleveland's coach for example knew the prop and intentionally restricted his minutes even more AND say ran more Allen post-ups limiting Mobley's touches, AND the coach used that inside info to bet under, the line may shift another point or 2 under - thus tricking bettors like myself into believing it was an even better bet to make OVER on. Thus, hurting the integrity/fairness of betting. That's a practical example.

That's the thing. He probably thought he's too small a fish in a huge pond and could sneak through. Oof...

Iirc, there was a story on him being a big crypto investor when he was drafted. Nothing if not consistent.

I expect nothing less than a year suspension and he’s going to be black balled
I don't know whether it's a false flag, but this is definitely a situation like with PED's: scrubs gets punished, stars get scrubbed.
Financially it doesn’t make sense for stars to do this.

He is averaging .385 FG this season. He probably thought he didn’t have much to lose and this is probably his last season in the nba. He probably felt doomed that he will lose his nba career soon.
