https://www.yahoo.com/news/sports/packers-begin-lambeau-field-lease-100145954.htmlSo I'm trying to wrap my head around this. The lease doesn't expire for nine years but the packers have additional options until like 2043. Also, the lease fee is totally immaterial (Talking $1-2m a year when compared to possibly investing $1 billion).
Seems like the city wants:
1. Investment in GREEN BAY (Titletown is on the opposite side of city limits?)
2. More events - Packers are kind of stingy about protecting the field where I'm sure the city wants 100 events a year to bring in more revenue?
3. Packers want to slightly reduce lease fee since they are taking over maintenance and operating costs. I think the city is getting a decent deal considering the Packers pay for so much of the stadium and are taking over operating costs, but it seems weird the Packers are being cheap on this when the difference is like NPV <$1/2m a year? ("under the Packers' proposal, the city said it would receive $45 million through 2062, compared with $81.3 million under terms of the existing lease."
Seems like a non-story overall with only Murphy wanting to cement his packers legacy by finalizing the lease and the Mayor playing hard ball forcing the Packers to give a little more to the city?
