I’m curious if anyone knows, or has a way to research, whether any player eligible for the super-max DIDN’T get that offer?
With the new “65-game limit” rule erasing some top candidates for All NBA, lesser players will make All NBA and become eligible.

Marcus Smart signed an extension before qualifying but likely wouldn’t have gotten paid much more than he signed for… I am not sure of others that were actually qualified.

My memory is a little hazy on this, but didn't Gobert end up signing an extension with Utah that wasn't the super max amount even though he was eligible for it?

Beat me to it
The Utah Jazz has locked down Ruby Gobert, a two-time Defensive Player of the Year and three-time All-NBA selection player, with a five-year, $205 million contract extension.
Gobert was eligible for a $228 million supermax extension over five years but did not request the full amount because he wants to help the team's flexibility in the future.

Kemba was eligible the season he was traded to Boston as he made 3rd team All-NBA. He (wisely) did not get offered a supermax.

He probably wasn't making All NBA this season anyway, but it seems pretty clear the Raptors had zero interest in paying Siakam that much, or even a vet 5-year max.

It was still above a normal max, though, so it is a weird situation.

Cousins got traded out of the blue in large part so SAC could avoid giving him that DPE.

Could avoiding the risk of a player getting third team All NBA and expecting the supermax be part of the reason Siakim was dealt?

I think nba should do something. Imo only players that gotten 1st team allnba should be eligable for supermax. It should be top of the cream, not kemba walkers

As far as I know, Siakam was so against being traded because he wanted to try to meet the DPE requirements. Because being traded removes the possibility of getting a DPE, Pascal was trying to discourage anyone snagging him by saying he wouldn't re-sign.
