Heat All-In with Towns
Inspired by Shrink…
Assumption: Heat and Wolves stub their toes a little this offseason.
Pacers Trade: Nembhard + Nesmith + McConnell
FOR
Herro + Moore Jr
Why= put Herro next to Hali and set their backcourt for many years.
Wolves Trade: Towns + Moore Jr
FOR
Nembhard + Jaquez Jr + Robinson + 29/31 Heat 1sts
Why= fix money problems with two rookie contracts - Nembhard as PGOF and Jaquez who battles Reid for PT as future forward next to McDaniels.
Heat Trade: Herro + Robinson + Jaquez Jr + 2x 1sts
FOR
Towns + McConnell + Nesmith
Why= all-in. Towns and Bam would be great together.
Bam | Towns | Bryant
Towns | Jovic | Love
Butler | Nesmith or Martin
Nesmith or Martin | Richardson
Rozier | McConnell (could start - Rozier super 6th)

We have seen worse between players and become teammates. Very successful teammates. Especially when one is grouchy Butler who has runs ins with numerous over the years on the many teams he has infected.
Sad that out of this whole topic and responses, you chose to negatively critique one of the few original ideas, while offering no original idea or alternative of your own. Do better.

Good one. The Butler rebellion against "soft" KAT and Wiggins was a pretty big story. Jimmy is about hard nosed toughness, of which KAT has a reputation of not being.
Can I ask an honest question our of curiosity? How old are you?

Yeah, this is a big no from Miami because of the hatred. I'm guessing the other teams say no, as well.

FWIW, that's the story ESPN and the media ran with because that's the story Jimmy would give to Rachel Nichols. Jimmy was more mad that the organization had already extended those 2 young guys and then wouldn't cripple themselves from a cap perspective to renegotiate and extend his contract vs waiting until the offseason to give him the full max. And he blamed it on those guys being "soft" and not deserving their contracts (he might have been right! but that's not how NBA contracts have really ever worked for top picks unless they were total busts) even though their contracts could be/needed to be extended first.

Why Indiana would want Herro is not totally clear to me

Re: Heat All-In with Towns
I don't see it for the Pacers. Nembhard, Nesmith and McConnell are obviously all lesser players than Tyler Herro, but they are all very cheap and cost controlled for the next few years. Nesmith is our starting SF and locked up for the next 3 years at 11 million a year. Nembhard is our starting SG (who knows for how long) and is locked up for the next 2 years at 2 million a year. McConnell is the best backup PG in the league and in for 1 more year at 9 million.
Replace these 3 rotation pieces with one guy in Herro who is owed 30 million a year, leaves Indy with a lot less flexibility. After we re-sign Siakam, then probably after next year gotta re-sign Turner to a big deal... these small cheap contracts are extremely important.
We hope that Mathurin can mature into the starting shooting guard by next year.

I’m glad you mentioned that, because people at RealGM know the rules, and can understand it.
Jimmy wanted a max deal, but had a year left on his deal. The only way under the CBA to renegotiate an active contract would be for MIN to get their payroll a full max deal’s worth under the salary cap (not the lux, the cap).
Try doing that with your own team. The salary cap is $123.6, and since a max deal is $37 mil for a 7-year vet, you have to get your team payroll under $87 million. Imagine the premiums you’d have to pay to trade current salary for cap space? The stretching you’d have to do? And then afterward you need to build back up a competitive team after all those cuts!
I can understand that Jimmy was frustrated that Wiggins new max made him a better paid player than him. I just don’t know who was advising Jimmy that the Wolves, or most any NBA team, could realistically change the deal he signed into a max, rather than waiting a year to get it.
And of course, silly, unreal trade. That deal would never happen.

Re: Heat All-In with Towns
One of two things would happen if KAT were traded to Miami:
(lesser chance) Something clicks, and he becomes a top 10 player in the league for the next few years. Heat are serious contenders during that period.
(greater chance) He flames out, clashes with Butler, and the Heat are in non-serious-contending cap hell for quite a while.
I don’t think it’s worth the risk. KAT is ultra talented and a much better defender than he generally gets credit for, but he still doesn’t seem like a Heat Culture kinda guy, especially with Butler around to likely make him uncomfortable.

This is 100% accurate. Minnesota was fully prepared to offer Jimmy Butler a five-year maximum contract in the following off-season, but instead he threw a fit when he couldn’t extort the team into trading off multiple players into cap-space.

I’m not going to comment on the trade specifics, but this line needs more attention. The league seems more competitive than ever this year. Combine that with essentially a hard cap with the 2nd Apron, this is leading to a very interesting offseason. Play-in losers, first round losers, what are they going to do as they look at their capped out rosters? Suns, Clippers, Hawks, Warriors, Lakers, as well as the Heat and Timberwolves. I’m probably missing a few more. Not all these teams are going to be happy. There is going to be some roster upheaval for sure.
I don’t think KAT is on the TWolves next year. He’s not going to the Heat, but he’s the big contract that has to get moved if the team needs a change.

Agree completely. I think Herro would be a nice piece, but not for this cost.
Hali and Herro backcourt would need some big help defensively. Siakam and Turner are good to have behind, but if Nesmith is gone, unless you think Jarace and Sheppard are ready to step up, it's too many pieces to let you.
Replace Nesmith with Toppin and I'd do it.
Sometimes a player's greatest challenge is coming to grips with his role on the team
