This is really bad for the Warriors. They trade a player of a needed position [Wing] for a player of a position they don't need.

Re: Warriors/Bucks
Interesting. Both players are on the downside of their careers. Wiggins is a big question mark. Can he return to playoff stud mode? Or retire because he’s lost his desire to play? I could see either happening. At least Lopez is predictable.

Re: Warriors/Bucks
I've got Lopez as much more valuable to the Bucks than Wiggins. Portis as the starting center? And Wiggins isn't that good even when he isn't wanting time off.
Comments to rationalize bad contracts -
1) It's less than the MLE
2) He can be traded later
3) It's only __% of the cap
4) The cap is going up
5) It's only __ years
6) He's a good mentor/locker room guy

I guess the hope is that Lopez-Green is a thing where Lopez can space out the floor with Green being at the dunker's spot? Problem is Green plays a ton out of the high-post as a facilitator, so this doesn't make sense. Perhaps OP thought Wiggins is expendable for GS given Kuminga?
Idk, this trade doesn't seem to do much for either team. Actually, I think it hurts the Bucks more than anything, because they need Lopez or a similar big to replace him. What does Wiggins do for them?

Wiggins was the 2nd best player in an NBA Finals series.

Re: Warriors/Bucks
This is pretty interesting.
* When people just try to make us bigger because we're small, it often doesn't make sense. But I've figured Brook Lopez was close to a perfect fit for us at center. He plays good defense, blocks shots, but can shoot from the outside.
* I roll my eyes at all the "Wiggins doesn't care", "He's on the downside of his career", "He's having a terrible year", etc. etc. So I do think he's pretty valuable. But I think some risk is necessary to actually make us better, and that might look like moving him to clear room for Kuminga/Moody.
* TJD has looked really good for a rookie, but his offense is definitely farther along than his defense. Lopez/TJD might be a good pairing.
Curry/CP3
Podz/Klay
Moody/Kuminga/Payton
Draymond/Kuminga/Saric
Lopez/TJD/Looney
Interesting, for sure.

Wiggins is shooting near 50-40-80 since the all star break. I'd say that's a pretty good down year for a guy who was recovering from an injury the first couple of months.

I don't know...Brook is a DPOY candidate...center is not a position of need for the Warriors? especially with the Nuggets/Wolves on the way...Green/Lopez is a totally elite combo on defense and between Kuminga/ Moody/GP2 replace Wiggins' production, which at least are decent..

He was. I don't really consider him one this year and certainly won't consider him next year when he is 37 years old.
center is not a position of need for the Warriors?
No. They have Looney, Draymond, Jackson-Davis and Saric [They can bring back cheaply].
Wing is a position of need though. Klay is washed, Kuminga doesn't space the floor and still has questions regarding his scalability on an actual good team, Moody is similar to Kuminga in the fact that he has questions regarding his ability, GP2 has a player option he may or may not exercise, but isn't a starting caliber wing.

The wing depth is clearly worse than the center depth. I don't see a real argument otherwise.

Look I hope that this keeps up as much as anyone. But until he's able to look like his old self for a couple months uninterrupted, no one's going to give Good Wiggins value for him.
I have Milwaukee passing on this unless they're really sure they can get 2022 Finals Wiggins back.
