But Zo and Wade were the other pair I considered at 3 VS Bird and Pierce.
Only 7 three pointers attempted between the 2 of them...but jimmy was 37% and Jordan was 43%
I think too much emphasis is put on 3 pointers taken and such for the older players.
Jordan today would 100% take 6 or 7 per game at least and make a greta percentage.
Ots a different game now and guys would have adapted
It's not so much about absolute 3PA numbers as about 3PAr (percentage of FGA from 3pt range). Jimmy's best 3 seasons for the Bulls fluctuated around 20% in 3PAr (basically 1 in 5 shots were 3s). In comparison, a shooting specialist like Sam Houser is recording a 3PAr of 86.3% this season! That makes a massive difference in terms of spacing regardless of whether the shots go in.
It's totally reasonable to assume Jordan would have been attempting 6 threes per game in today's game. If he were averaging 22 FGA per game, that equals to a 3PAr of 27%. Nothing to sneeze at, but far from impressive compared to the majority of perimeter-oriented scorers of the modern era. Likewise, Jimmy's 3PAr this season is 17.4%. They are obviously great players, but they are ball-dominant shot creators rather than 3pt snipers.
Glad to see Drazen finally getting some love! I think he's massively underrated. Personally, I have him in the same tier with Ray, Reggie, Klay, Manu and EJ who are all regulars in our games.
