Here's an article I found from November 2023 on NBA owners and their net worth:
https://basketballside.com/nba-owners24 of the 30 owners are worth 2 billion dollars or more.
Glen is listed as #18 at 2.8 billion.
Of those 6 not listed above 2 billion, you have Jeanie Buss and Wyn Grousbeck of the Lakers and Celtics who own small (20% or less) stakes because their parents died and split the shares among their children.
Those franchises both are in markets that print money.
You have Clay Bennet and Peter Holt of the Thunder and Spurs who purchased their teams 18 and 30 years ago and hold assets worth roughly 10X and 30X the purchase price respectively, which is very important to the long term stability of their small market franchises and their ability to finance moderate losses. Very similar situation with Taylor here.
The remaining 2 not in the 2 billion owner club are the Kings and Hornets, 2 of the historically cheapest and most maligned franchises in the league.
The one that surprised me a bit was the Warriors owner who is only worth 2 billion.
Another that surprised me was that Ann Walton Kroenke, a Walmart heir, owns the Nuggets.
How can they be run so cheaply when she has like 9 billion dollars?
You guys spend pages and pages trashing Taylor.
But it could be much worse.
Could be Norm Green who came in all slick like Lore did but lied to everyone and abruptly moved the team.
Or Calvin Griffith who ran the team for decades as cheaply as possible and traded away every good player who ever asked for a raise.
Or Red McCombs the car salesman who was also fake wealthy, who ran the team as cheaply as possible for a few years and then cashed out.
McCombs is the one Lore and his group remind me the most of.
