Sac/Portland
Huerter, Sasha, Daurte, 2024 first round pick, 2027 first round pick. The 2024 first traded after we make the pick I expect the nba to guide LA past Sacramento in the play ins.
For
Jerami Grant
Sacramento: Monk is gone he’ll get the bag from someone adding Grant gives us shooting 40% from three as well as size and defense. Ellis, Keegan, and Grant is an amazing core defensive group on the wing with great size. All three guys bring shooting as well next to Sabonis/Fox. Grant also brings scootering which we obviously need when Sabonis isn’t scoring. Our bench would also look good with Mitchell, Barnes, and Lyles.
Fox/Mitchell
Ellis
Keegan
Grant/Barnes
Sabonis/Lyles
Portland: Get out of grants contract while getting two first round picks as well as a vet they can trade later in Huerter

I have it a full first too much, if not more. Portland fans can disagree.

Re: Sac/Portland
I would agree it's a first too much. the Kings need to keep Sasha as well, basically for the same reason as the main problem with this, why do the Blazers want mid 20s guys? Huerter and Duarte play the same position as their young stars. Think you need to get another team involved that needs shooting and looking to move up the standings. Maybe Pistons? Although you could argue the same thing, but it does seem they don't want to continue with a rebuild.
Huerter (Pistons)/Duarte/Davion/1st (Blazers) for Stewart (Blazers) as the premise with Grant going to Kings.
Scoot gets a BU and an interesting trio in Ayton/Timelord/Stewart. Duarte is in for expiring money.

Blazer fan here, and have had the Kings in mind for Grant for awhile, awesome fit between Sabonis and Murray. Wouldn't be surprised if they had interest in Barnes coming back to play a vet role for a season or so. I'd imagine they would be asking 2 FRP's in a swap like that, or a 1st + 2nds/young player.

I’m on board for Portland. I could accept a bit less. Maybe swap out a 1st for a decent collection of 2nds if the Kings have some to trade, or Portland sends out a few 2nds to the Kings.

I’ve posted this previously. This trade requires Kris Murray. Then it’s worth it for Sac.

Portland really doesn't need another 2024 1st (assuming the Warriors' pick conveys).HartfordWhalers wrote:I have it a full first too much, if not more. Portland fans can disagree.
If Sacramento gives up their pick to Atlanta this year I would say a 2025 unprotected 1st would suffice.

I think they need more size/physicality at the forward spot to take on Wolves/Denver even Mavs after the deadline..WCJ/Eason would be guys I would look at first

I think Grant has really good size & length at PF. He’s got a 8’11” standing reach and a 7’2.75” wingspan. Compare that to Barnes who has a 8’5.5” standing reach and a 6’11.25” wingspan. That extra size & length is much needed next to Sabonis.
I don’t think we should be moving off our 1st round picks until we see what Murray can do in his 3rd season but I’d look for a deal like…
SAC Gets: Jerami Grant
SAC Gives: Harrison Barnes, Kevin Huerter, & 2025 POR 2nd
POR Gets: Expirings from Team X, Picks from Team X, & 2025 POR 2nd
POR Gives: Jerami Grant
Team X Gets: Harrison Barnes & Kevin Huerter
Team X Gives: Expirings & Picks
Not sure who Team X could be but those are two really good floor spacers. A team who has their stars established and is looking to add a couple final pieces to space the floor further might be interested.
Another option would be if the Kings miss the playoffs and therefore they keep their 2024 1st. I might be more willing to trade that pick on draft night knowing it doesn’t really impact our ability to trade multiple 1sts down the road.

Re: Sac/Portland
If we resign Monk, I'm not sure that team is financially sustainable.
Fox
Sabonis
Grant
Monk
Eventual pay increase for Keegan
My only interest in Grant at this point would be Huerter + Barnes + 2nds for Grant.

This is always going to be the problem. If you add another player like Grant/Kuzma (even though his salary isn't bad).
If Monk signs for 4/$78m with lets say a starting salary of $17m (not sure on what the exact figure is), the Kings will have 11 players under contract at around $163.5m. That $172m figure would be tough to stay under and Monte would need to get creative and maybe trade the MLE for future considerations.
Then you have the scary off season for the 26/27 season with Fox/Keegan and potentially Ellis all looking for new deals. The Kings cap figure could go north of $200m.
Fox/Sabonis/Keegan/Monk/Player X doesn't really work unless Player X turns the Kings into championship contenders. So either the Kings need to get development from within those players already there or work trades from within that group.
What does that mean though? Huerter and Barnes need to be turned into much cheaper defensive role players, preferably at the wing position and someone that can play next to Sabonis. The Kings have found a potential gem in Keon and Colby looks like he could be an end of rotation player at this point. IMO they need to sign Kessler long term, try and take advantage of Keon breaking out and have a few extremely cheap guys making an impact which I expect Kessler to do next season.

Man **** waiting to see what Keegan will be we will have enough shots to go around regardless. Sending out Huerter and picks while losing Monk (which will happen) gives us enough shots for Keegan and Grant. The size on the wing with Grant/Keegan/Ellis while providing shooting would be huge.

This part here.
Not interested and haven’t been in Jerami Grant - especially as a non bargain deal.
What is the point of getting yet another 6’8” undersized Power forward? Add to that the age - Grant is several years above our window range other than as a last piece (he’s not it), and has had health issues in the past so playing him as a power guy doesn’t make a lot of sense. He’s also not the third scorer on a championship team or even on this current Kings roster - where the order is Fox, Monk, Murray/Sabonis (the idea they are going to let Monk get signed away and not dump salary to keep him is ludicrous) and he would end up in the same position as Barnes - the fifth guy who gets hot sometimes and can’t guard 6’10”+ PF’s.
The Kings clearly need a PF that is long (6’10” +), defensively oriented (shot blocker would be ideal) and can shoot from at least the mid range and preferably the three.
Last summer I wanted them to offer big money to Naz Reid. He would have been the ideal fit for this roster and next to Sabonis. And his age fits perfectly. Unfortunately Minny got on it quick and locked him up.

This isn’t even possible and Grant isn’t undersized whose got size on him at PF all I can think of is KAT and Randle

I don't think this is set in stone.
Could Orlando overpay him? Sure. As good as Monk was this year he averaged 15-5 on pretty meh splits. Great spark plug off the bench but I've said all season if someone wants to offer him 4/100 be my guest. I wouldn't really love the Kings matching that even if we could.
Kings from what I've seen can offer 4/73. So if Orlando comes in anything less than 20+ a year, I think Malik is back. His best friend plays here, he loves the team, he Fox defers to him a ton, and we've helped him grow as a player. Not saying we will get a massive home town discount, but I could see him passing up 5-10 mil more to come back. Same as Naz Reid did last year.
