He's just looking at all his options.

My bet is he returns to college and goes to a program known for developing their players.

Almost a lock that if he stays in, its because the Lakers have promised him (Rich Paul) they would take him at a certain spot.

I think he shouldve stayed in for another year or 2 to develop and adjust, but I also cant fault him for also probably thinking the Summer League and G League wont do just as good of a job of it

People are going to overreact because it's Bronny, but why not do this? As other have stated, why not go through the whole process, meet with teams, combine it up and then see how it goes? If not well, play another year?

It's not like every player who gets drafted is NBA ready anyways. LA has like 5 guys on their roster who basically are not NBA talents

Maxwell Lewis is playing garbage time averaging .3ppg on 21% shooting for the Lakers. My dude is averaging .3 more ppg than me right now. Is this really that big of a deal? Life aint fair, get Bronny and enjoy the profits

Well, we know if the unlikely happens and Orlando picks him, LeBron will retire this summer

He’s not gonna magically develop into some kind of NBA prospect at age 21 by averaging 10 ppg at Duquesne

Let’s go ahead and get this embarrassing charade over with

I think he goes undrafted and signs wherever LeBron does. Teams drafting him just to squeeze value or steer LeBron would just be giving themselves a black eye. Most GMs are more interested in maintaining relationships than pulling something like that.
Comments to rationalize bad contracts -
1) It's less than the MLE
2) He can be traded later
3) It's only __% of the cap
4) The cap is going up
5) It's only __ years
6) He's a good mentor/locker room guy

BECAUSE people will overreact. If his goal is to eventually become a player worthy of being drafted on merit, going through this would just attract unnecessary hate and attention. He's clearly so far from being ready now (and so much worse than even Maxwell Lewis as a prospect) that I'm not sure there's too much benefit in getting familiar with the process. If he simply wants to get drafted through the help of his father, sure, why not.

Life's not fair, but it works both ways. He seems like a good kid, but he will get a lot of hate if drafted.

You can go undrafted and still return to school.

I believe he's going to keep his name in the draft even after the period to withdraw. Lebron is going to see if he can bait a team into drafting Bronny. I see them risking it all and passing on Bronny's college eligibility. He's a scrub today and most likely will be a scrub 3 years from now. Lebron's camp is going to play the game that Bronny still has a a lot of potential and that he would have had a great year if he didn't suffer from his heart condition from a year ago.

It's been in place for I think about 5 years or so with a few stipulations. Generally, nobody really does it because they decide they want to go pro when they enter whether it's the G League or elsewhere if they don't get picked.

FWIW this is pretty standard language for players who obviously won't be drafted but have future NBA ambition. They can "explore the draft waters" a few times to gather feedback, and withdraw by a certain date to go back to school and know what they need to work on. So if you think you're going to be drafted some day but aren't ready yet, it almost makes no sense not to go through the process to see where you're at.

That said, Bronny is obviously a different case so if he really stayed in the draft it wouldn't be shocking. The Lakers using pick 54 to make LeBron happy wouldn't be a bad use of that pick.

Correct you can’t do this. There is a deadline prior to the draft where you have to pull your name out of the draft to keep your college eligibility.

You can’t enter the draft, get drafted and not like where you got drafted or end up going undrafted and then decide to return to college. It’s usually around 2 weeks to 10 days prior to the draft that the deadline to pull your name from draft eligibility.

If you're going to have to waste a 2nd rd pick why not do it in one of the worst drafts in recent memory? You don't want to waste a 2nd in a better deeper draft. Lebron saw JHS and Maxwell Lewis and was like Bronny can play with these guys.

You’re correct and I am wrong. I thought the 10 day deadline prior to the draft was it. But ya does look like if a player goes undrafted he can return. I don’t recall seeing this yet though. But ya thank you for informing me on this.

I think so, unless he hires an agent.

Could be wrong.

More players should do this. Sometimes the playing time and exposure is much higher in NCAA. Especially with NIL, players would still be getting paid.

The only drawback i see to it, is I believe anyone can only enter their name into the draft once.

I've thought about putting my name in the draft just for fun lol
