I wonder if did and Austin Reeves are convincing him to go undrafted free agent route...smells sour to me like the Lakers are willing to waste a two-way on him to fulfill LeBron's dream for one season next year...the kid wasn't even in the top 150-200 players in all of NCAA this year and adding in all the eligible international prospects he isn't worth even a combine look

Drafting Bronny gives you a chance at landing LeBron. Absolutely worth a first round pick, calculated decision by the James family.

I doubt LeBron is going to give up being paid around 50 million a year to take the mid level or minimum somewhere. A team can workout a trade, but it'll be tricky at his salary level.

I guess he could tell the Lakers to use a 2nd round pick on Bronny.

Most likely and smartest bet is to muscle everyone to not draft him, then he signs for four years with LA as undrafted free agent. The money wouldn't even be important. Lebron would probably play that long anyway and has a guarantee to watch his son develop. And by year five upon retirement in 2029 or so, Lebron has already lined up the Las Vegas franchise and Bronny gets another decade there.

The only wild card is I could see Pat Riley sneaking in and nabbing him with a second-rounder (would have to trade to get one) and grinning like Lucifer in a hot tub.

He's going undrafted to the Lakers.

Lakers can't take that chance. The only question is if they trade back with a team that has multiple late firsts so they don't burn a late lottery pick on him.

It's New Orleans decision to chose 24 1st or choose to defer but assuming they do defer, I guess the question is how badly does Bron want to win? Does he want Pelinka to trade picks + ____ to get him a 3rd star and compete or simply find a way to get Bronny. I think your approach is probably the middle ground and best solution of they can trade down, keep pick(s) for a trade and get Bronny.

But realistically, does he go first? I think LA buys a pick in the 2nd just to draft him or go the Reaves route and sign as UFA -- except AR's profile ws small enough to go under the radar. Bronny will be the biggest story at the draft.. especially if Bron is all suited in the building.

Some team will probably be willing to take a flyer on him, even if it's not really deserved. He's really getting on by name alone and not genuine talent.

He could turn out to be a pretty decent player, but he needs a lot more conditioning and experience. Maybe he'll get that by transferring to another school where he can play a full season and show it's not about name but talent. That would be in his best interest.

That's exactly what I think will happen.

Either the Lakers will burn a pick on him (willingly or not), or his agent will strong arm teams to not draft him, leaving to a Lakers signing.

Moreover, it will be really interesting to see how teams will not defend Bronny next season... he will be targeted continuously on defense, while being left alone in the shooter spot on offense. His +/- splits and all those other advanced stats will be a sight to behold.

This won't actually be necessary. I believe Klutch's tentacles will act behind the scenes to make sure they "direct" (if you know what I mean...) Bronny to the right team which, of course, will be the Lakers.

The only doubt in my mind is if the Lakers will use a pick on him, or if he goes undrafted and then signs a contract.

My hunch feeling: Lakers burn a pick on Bronny, giving him the glory (and following media narrative, obviously) that he was "drafted" on merit or something... all of this, to please LeBron as well, too.

These guys work together. As they say here in Brazil, one doesn't let go of the other's hands.

Honestly, good on him- if playing in NBA is his dream his best chance to fullfill it is to ride his dad clout while it still means a lot around the league.

After his freshman year even Bronny must've realized that chances of doing it on merit alone are slim at best.
