Id like to see OKC package Houstons pick, our pick and try to move up and grab Clingan if he's around 7 or 8. 7'2 center with a 7'7 wing span to back up Chet or run when needed. Chet can shoot the 3 so you could have both on the floor.

Houston's pick is the only pick OKC has a chance to have. That isn't guaranteed as there is a slim chance they could end up in the top 4 after the lottery ping pong balls.

Top 4 would be insane.

If the Houston pick is top 4 OKC doesn't get it.

OKC either gets the 12th, 13th or 14th pick or no pick at all. The most likely outcome is OKC picks 12. There is no scenario for OKC to get the 1st-11th pick in the draft. If the ping pong balls bounce lucky for Houston and the pick ends up 1-4, the only spots that are done by lottery, then Houston keeps their pick. If Houston stays at 12 or a team picking 13th or 14th gets lucky with ping pong balls OKC get the pick at either 12, 13 or 14. OKC could use other assets to combine with the 12th pick to move up in the draft, but they would need a willing trade partner and be willing to pay the price to move up.

Re: 2024 NBA draft
OKC will be picking 12th. The Spurs have the 4th pick and 7th to add to Wemby and company. If they land a quality PG they could jump to play-in level next year and depending on FA they might be a legitimate playoff team. Houston got the 3rd pick via Brooklyn which gives them a lot of options to find a wing or PG to go with their front court. Utah has to be unhappy dropping from 8th to 10th. Their choice to tank at the deadline prevented the pick from conveying to OKC and ended in their worst possible position. I could see Presti trading #12 and Utah's pick back to them to move up to #10 if there is a player there he really likes.

Sspurs have the 8th pick and I would be surprised if they don't draft Cody Williams with it so it sucks for us

I wonder if any of those teams could have any interest in Josh Giddey in a potential move up. Maybe Charlotte?

Re: 2024 NBA draft
Hawks get the first pick with a 3% chance... .and HOU get's BKN's pick to convey at #3. Spurs get two top-10 picks at the expense of the Raptors' pick conveying to SA.
Some interesting developments here... Spurs have a real chance to add two quality players to their rotation which was so poor last year, a great launching point for Wemby's career. Hawks have a chance to pick one guy who they think can bring them over the hump... even in a 'weak draft' there's talent out there. Houston continues a great run of top-5 picks and can add even more talent to its roster and should be in a position to contend if things go correctly.
Meanwhile Portland has two picks in the top-14 and could package that to move up with one of their tradeable players.
Utah's pick was #10, thus didn't convey and we await next year's results.
with OKC at #12, there's still opportunity to grab a rotation piece that has a chance to be better with development. I would advise against picking a deep bench project at this point that requires 2-years of GL play etc to be NBA ready. We have those players still.
Maybe a trade shakes things up but at least we have definite #s next to the picks now.

I'm not convinced they take Cody with the pick. I think they take Topic at #4 and at #8 they'll take Sheppard, Dillingham or Knecht. They'll want to add someone at #8 that they believe can be a shooter from day 1 and Cody didn't take a lot of 3s in college.

All options considered id rather they try to trade out of the pick for an established guy but (and I do hate to admit this) I'm a bigger fan of the more project-y dudes presumably in our range than the various upper classmen who might be available at 12. Salaun has started to blossom and he's gonna have to miss the combine since his team has advanced

I been thinking this. Anyone want giddey ? With a protected future first from us to even out the value if needed.

Will be interesting
Atlanta - pivot to youth or get pieces to work now.
Houston - would they want another project or move that pick for a win now pieces .
How does this impact the rest .

I think Presti will trade Giddey, 12th pick and some other picks for established player.
Hayward trade is logical only as cap clearing for big summer move. If not, then management is moronic.

Hayward will be a FA this off-season. He's coming off the books. That cap space will probably be used to take another bad contract plus a draft pick or to move up in the draft like last year.

So eddy shot the 3 ball at the combine better than I would have thought. If we could barter a 2nd round pick would he be worth taking a chance on? I mean maybe he could actually be a answer to our problems inside. I didn't think he would have any chance in the NBA but maybe I could be wrong.

He might be late first probably and still climbing.
I’m leaning towards Tristan De Silva now. Not looking at upside picks as I don’t believe we have minutes to harness that upside , or that we can wait for contributors.

He also showed off impressive athleticism for his size, something people were questioning. He will go in the top 15 as I said months ago. OKC should take him at 12, but I do not believe Presti is anywhere near smart enough to do that. Take Eddy at 12, have him play as the backup center while playing Chet at PF in Eddy/Chet lineups his rookie season. In year two Eddy is your starting center with Chet at PF, JDub, Dort and SGA would round out the lineup for your defending champs. Preti will take someone like Cody Williams, who will be a good player, but it won't improve OKC or fix any of their obvious flaws or create an insane mismatch that the league can't handle and OKC will never win a championship despite having an insane opportunity given their core and assets.
