Matchups: Moncrief on Billups; Kidd on Carter; Tatum on Kawhi; McHale on Nance; Lopez on Bam.
Colbinii has the best player here but my team is much deeper and more well-rounded. Prime Nance is great but isn't in the same tier as peak Moncrief and prime Kidd, Tatum, and McHale. Plus, I have by far the best bench player in 6MOY Kukoc.
I probably have the best defense in the game and I match up quite well. Billups has to be the main facilitator b/c there is no other competent passer: 2019 Kawhi can't do it and Carter is even forced to play backup PG. This is a nightmare scenario with Billups being hounded by DPOY Moncrief. It's difficult to see how Colbinii's offense functions under these circumstances.
There's also some anti-synergy with Carter being the odd man out. Carter is an unreliable 3pt shooter; in his first 60 playoff games, he shot 31.2% from 3. Moreover, he's not an off-ball player but an isolation specialist but here he's being guarded by Kidd and paired with another isolation player in Kawhi. Kawhi will have to do a lot of heavy lifting to make this offense viable.
On offense, I have a well-balanced attack spearheaded by Kidd with Tatum on the perimeter, McHale in the low-post, and elite complimentary players on offense with Moncrief and Lopez. My offense functions both on the fastbreak and in the halfcourt. McHale ran the break with another dynamic passer in Bird and Tatum can run the break as an athletic wing.
My biggest advantage is the bench. Carter is unplayable as a backup PG, 17 minutes of Askins should be unplayable period, and 2016 RJ getting 19 minutes and having to guard Kukoc also isn't ideal.
