No. The new CBA is brutal to a top-heavy payroll.

It s doable but really costly this is why wepark r so good with getting good players on team friendly deals

It’s really not doable any longer with new CBA.

This is why it s key to lock players like suggs+Wcj and JI on contracts as low as possible

I’d honestly decline Isaac’s 17M and try to get a smaller 2+1 deal done. He gets longer term comfort and we lock in like 3/30ish.

Would be interesting to see what he’d get offered elsewhere

Think about...you're offering JI less than MLE...he might not even listen to the 2nd offer after that. There's no "you guys have been good to me while I was hurt" discount (unfortunately) in reality. Blame the Agents for doing their jobs - they're like Personal Injury lawyers...they have a fiduciary duty to obtain the largest financial recovery possible on behalf of their clients. Expect to pay JI $20m+ per, imo...that's a lot less than his impact, but his injury history and continued restrictions give the team SOME leverage.

Teams will definitely want to sign JI has he plays more games. You can insert him into any teams rotation and he is going to have an impact.

I don’t want to overpay for JI but not sure I’m waving the 17 million next year unless I’m 100% he is signing a new contract.

Just hope he’s able to stay healthy obviously if he gets a multi year deal. Will be an interesting offseason that’s for sure

I think he will give them a better deal.... because they continued to stay with him. I know I would. Now... I'm not gonna go for pennies but Orlando would definitely get the benefit!

Management seems keen on retaining Isaac. I am quite confident his option is picked up in full.

Fair list, I would switch 3 and 4

I think we ll pick Ingles ' option and have him join our coaching stuff after next season (player coach)

Each win I get the sense of running it back again is more likely.

I don’t see us making a lot of changes. Tops 3 players but I’m going with 2 different players.

Where did you see this?

I could not find it anywhere.
Just Googled "Do Lakers have Full Bird rights on D'Angelo Russell" and different articles popped up stating it.

All of those articles that I saw were for last year, which did have full bird rights.

I am not so sure this year. I have seen a couple say that they do, I am not sure that I believe them.

Even without Bird rights, I think that they can still offer him a 20% raise under the cap, which would put him about $21M per year.

Without full Bird Rights, it will be extremely hard for the Lakers to go above that. I think that there is some press right now that is saying that the Magic are the biggest threat to the Lakers losing DM, because they can go above the 20% numbers.

Again, I could be wrong as there are always little details in the NBA CBA that are unclear to me.

Atheltic is reporting saying us signing Klay is the “worst kept secret”.

I’m excited.

He fits the bill. 6’8”, great shooter and a veteran presence. He’d really space the floor and a great tandem for Suggs at the backcourt.

I’ve been saying all along since last offseason, Suggs is a PG, he is playing really well this season at that position.

Klay is washed. And that’s not really a secret…

I don't think he's washed (or 6'8") but he's not the right target because he's certainly not who he was and the only thing making him "available" is the disparity between what he's worth in 2024 and what GSW is willing to pay him for emotional reasons...he has no desire to leave GSW but GSW doesn't want to pay him a "Lifetime Achievement" salary at this point...and neither should we. I'd much rather spend a lot less on a younger guy that can be part of our core for 3+ years. Grayson (not young but young enough), Simons, Monk, Herro, etc...even DLo could have much more likelihood of doing well here, IMO, even if it takes trade assets to get them. Klay would be leaving his heart in San Francisco and could decline quickly.

Klay makes a lot of sense imo. Harris upgrade without being a long-term Jett blocker. AB replaces Fultz, Klay replaces Harris, Jett replaces Okeke.

Malik Beasley is expiring and playing in MIL for the vet minimum. Let's say we thrash MIL in the first round (or even just the last two regular season games)...he might be ready to leave for greener pastures rather than go down with Dame's ship. He's in the same tier as GTJ, Hield, Kennard, maybe even Grayson, etc...one-dimensional shooters. FSU guy, high-volume 3pt shooter...he might not be THE guy this summer but he could be one of them if we beef up rotation. Could he be added for less than $10m?

I'm just not seeing a 10 or 20 or ( :o ) even $30m dolllar a year difference when we're talking about throwing a big offer to take Klay out of GSW...I'm all for filling the bench with vet 3pt snipers - whoever has the hot hand that night gets to stay in. But my primary target is a younger guy that could put up 20ppg for the next 5 years without cramping Paolo's style (DJM, Simons, maybe Monk)

If Klay ends up being the guy - I'd totally get behind it. He's an awesome person and a shooting legend...I just don't know if that's the best investment for ORL. I just don't know how much he would be able to really do, especially defensively, and the defense is what made him more than just another great shooter.
