You are missing that these are new owners, that the BOG has to decide whether to approve.

Ok, I know this is big news, but we also have a big game tonight that I want to fully enjoy. I’m going to go focus on that, maybe come back to this topic tomorrow after all my celebrating of the Wolves victory tonight. Go Wolves!

ARod and Lore traded away our picks, and Glen Taylor’s money these first two years, to increase the value of the team. Then they are going to cut players on this historic team to get under the lux? The whole argument was that since they brought in Connelly, it showed they had the money to pay them going forward when they took over and had to write their own checks.

It really sounds to me like they are swindling an owner that wanted to sell, and a fanbase that wanted anyone other than Taylor, with lots of pretty promises about what they would do in the future.

Or its strictly a business move. Buy low, make a bunch of moves to radically inflate the value and then sell high.

If they're swindling the wolves like you say, then what's the endgame for Lore and arod in your opinion?

You’re high as a kite.

Owners aren’t giving their inside strategy to other owners.

Well, Taylor will during any interview.

Hey, this seems like a Taylor leak, come to think of it. Straight out of his dirty playbook.

So Taylor made the whole thing up and is lying about them sharing it with the NBA?

Could be 100% fabricated or it could be some truth he twisted. And we’ll never know. And that makes it a super suspect statement that doesn’t even qualify as “news”.

Profit. Sell it for more than a Billion more than you paid for it.

Maybe. And if they don't care if the new owners want to keep the team in Minny, they can probably get a few Billion more than they paid...

Not big surprised there. Considering the conflict, they will do the opposite things Taylor want. Let's see where it goes. I have been firmly convinced that KAT may be trade this year if it doesn't show up in PO. But those kind of news are not the best way to prepare PO.

If anything, obfuscation about the teams’ plan would be more likely.

I’m telling you, the way this is being spun sounds fishy as all getout.

This makes me wonder if Taylor is close to losing this team. This is desperation on his part.

Not. A. Chance. In. Hell.

Next, this report doesn’t change a thing about the ownership battle.

Isn't there documentation of this? If I'm wrong please let me know.

Think Tank just stop with trying to spin every development as Taylor sucks and is evil. I don't like him leaking this, but I didn't like A Rod and Lore leaking how they should get credit for every good thing that's happened. They should all be keeping this stuff behind closed doors and not trying to win a PR battle through the media.

You should be writing Novels. You have a far more active imagination than JK Rowling and Stephen King.

There’s no documentation provided and there isn’t even a date provided.

I put exactly zero stock in this “news”.

“Lore and Rodriguez rendered a budget projection as potential majority owners”

Talk about a nothing statement.

Complete the statement. Slashing payroll to get under the Luxury tax and likely ending the teams run as a contender.
That's not a nothing statement.
Can I find your novels anywhere other than RealGM?

Leaks that were apparently true. “People like Tim Conally don’t come to Minnesota.” That’s why you need someone in the ownership who knows how a top tier organization is run even if it’s baseball. Arod and Lore were absolutely the “culture” change the team needed. A proved winner that even the players can look up to. Wish they had a few billions more… :)

I think those leaks were probably true. I don’t think we have Connelly or Gobert without Lore/Arod. But I think these leaks are probably equally true. That Gobert trade was made prior to the new CBA, which significantly increased luxury tax penalties. In fact, if it were known ahead of time, I doubt that move is made. You have two owners, struggling to get purchase money for the team. Arod simply doesn’t have the money. And Lore, already toward the bottom of owner wealth, heavily invested in getting another company off the ground.

The thought they’d lose 75-100m, assuming a break even if at the luxury tax line (which might not even be true), because of the luxury tax, I don’t see it. My guess is that if they become owners and that budget is true, we’ll see more budget contracts like Conley but KAT or Jaden will be traded mostly into another teams cap space with assets coming back but nothing close to their value. As so few teams will have actual space to take even some of their contracts.

The luxury tax rates remain the same as the previous CBA through the 2024-25 season, so there is currently no change from when the Gobert deal was made. In 2025-26 the luxury tax rates do change with a significantly reduced tax on the first $10M over the line coupled with a large increase in tax rates for each dollar over $10M.
