FVV can be in last year of his contract next year. His 2025-2026 contract, $44,8M is team's option.

If FVV suck next year they can simply drop him.

Trent is so some much of a better fit than VanVleet, anyhow. And a 80M three year deal, or 110M four year deal probably gets that deal done.

p.s. I am giddy at the idea of flipping G-Harris and Fultz contracts into a Trent signing. PLEASE!

Orlando doesn't simply just need shooting. We need an actual PG. We need a PG who can give Paolo post entry passes without turning the ball over. We need a PG who can hit Franz more timely on his backdoor cuts. We need a PG who can generate easy looks and limit turnovers while spacing the floor.

Well what do ya know. FVV is averaging 8.1 APG with 1.7 TO PG and hitting 3 3's a game at 38.0%. We have a roster full of SG's masquerading as PG's in Suggs, Cole, Fultz, Black.

If you think Trent Jr is a better fit than FVV, I have to assume you haven't been watching enough Magic basketball.

Also Gary Trent Jr isn't who you think he is, and if we paid him 3 Yr/80 mil I might just refrain from watching the Magic next year. He is an MLE level player.

With Jrue gone, I'd probably rank my free agency targets...

1. Isaiah Hartenstein
2. D'Angelo Russell
3. De'Anthony Melton
4. Klay Thompson
5. Kentavious Caldwell-Pope

I am just not overly interested in spending a lot of money on a big and I think Claxton would cost significantly more than Hartenstein (or simply retaining Goga).

So if he is good, no problem paying him 44.8M?

We pay $41M for Ingles, G. Harris and Fultz.

One missed 30 games due injuries, other is 36 years old and third has been broken since 2017.

Good players are expensive. You end up paying somebody money anyway.

41 million for these 3. Yikes!!!! give that 41 for Klay for all I care. That is disgusting spending that on those 3

The front office can’t possibly bring him back for 11 million after watching him this year. But, nothing suprises me with Weltman.

Honestly... it's not THAT much.

2024 1st is gonna be 14-16.

2025 Denver 1st is gonna be 25 or later.

And that's it on the pick front?

If the Magic could get Isaac out of the deal and basically any other non Paolo/Franz/Suggs player into the deal instead, I'd probably have to do it on pure talent alone.

It would work this summer because the Magic would be significantly below the salary cap limit and would be able to bring on a lot more money than they send out.

I'd be tempted even though I'm pretty high on AB. Trae is really, really good, though his stock is very low.

If the Magic could put Carter in Isaac's spot, I'd have to do it.

Then you go out and immediately sign Hartenstein or your guy Claxton to be the new starting center and defensive anchor and also sign Melton to be another defender in the backcourt.

Young, Suggs, Franz, Banchero, Claxton/Hartenstein
Anthony, Melton, Ingles, Isaac, Moritz

Something like that?

You don't like the Allen vs Monk players we have been debating for a while already?

I'm pretty scared to drop a big deal on Monk. Feels like it could blow up in a bad way. High reward, but super high risk since he's never really been a starter before.

As far as Grayson Allen goes... he's in arguably the best possible situation a catch-and-shoot guy could possibly be in, playing off two Hall of Famers and another all-star and... he's a 0.0 EPM guy. He's fine. But I don't really want to commit big dollars to fine.

I would, in a vacuum, take Claxton all over Hartenstein...and, given their respective seasons, I'm not sure Clax would be much more expensive of a contract than Hart. This summer might be "buy low on Claxton or buy high on Hart". Either would require a significant raise to move, as I understand it and I'd be happy to have either one. I could see BRK being more amenable, if unhappy, to cooperate with a SnT, presumably involving WCJ...if Claxton said "I'm going either way".

I was referring to Monk.

Allen has started many places in his career, and he's a great shooter. I just don't think he's all that great at much of anything else.
