Going to give Herro to the Rockets another shot...
Tyler Herro and 15th Overall Pick for Jae'Sean Tate, Jeff Green, Jock Landale and 9th Overall Pick
Miami replaces Caleb with Tate, gets below the first apron, adds some expiring matching salary at the deadline or later in the off-season if a star shakes lose and a top 10 pick.
Houston gets a nice scoring guard to either start or be a super 6th man for their second unit without really losing much on the court. They downgrade from 9 to 15 seems worth the talent upgrade.

Miami fans are going to say they don't trade better players for worse players.

Maybe incorporate Landale and Green being forwarded with a future 1st for DFS?

I still think that's a pretty significant downgrade in talent. TBH I think Herro is the odd man out, so I don't disagree with flipping him for assets and savings, but it doesn't seem to be what fans on this forum think Miami will do - and there is a good chance they are correct. I'd be looking for similar caliber players at different positions. e.g., would Jerami Grant be a good fit for Miami? Obviously Portland would not want Herro, but I can imagine a three team trade would work well.

Re: Going to give Herro to the Rockets another shot...
My personal feelings are (and our FO may disagree), there about 9 guys in the top of the draft I like for the Rockets, and only about 2 of them do I consider to be better prospects than the other 7. As such, unless one of my 9 drops to 15, then I don't value 15 very much, if at all.
Hero is solid, but he is extremely expensive. I am not sure that is where we want to allocate our resources, and close our cap window after next year.
A similar deal I was considering however, would be if we jumped to #4, and traded it to Chicago for #10 and Caruso. No idea what Chicago's plans are, but I think that helps the Rockets in the Short, Mid and Long terms.

The trade is #9 for Herro, #15 and takin on players the Heat doesnt need.
I will not trade #15 and Herro for #9, much more if those players are included.
Thats too much for moving up from #15 to #9, unless that pick is a franchise changing player.

I actually think Miami would get a legit player there. That's Stephon Castle/Isaiah Collier type of point guards.

The difference between #9 and #15 is not worth Herro and takin on those players as burdens.
The 4m savings doesnt cut it.
Collier will be available at #15, and if he's not, there are players worth takin at #15 without giving away Herro.

If you tie in Grant to Miami, I think it gets better. Don’t think Grant is worth a top 10 pick, but you can send Portland’s early 2nds to Miami to add a bit of value?
Not sure I buy Houston targeting Herro though. They want cap space in 2025 and Jalen is finally showing something. Would rather draft another guard and keep the flexibility. Value isn’t bad though and maybe Green’s (potential) improvement has Houston thinking they can just build around their young core..

Houston should not waste their salary on Herro
Doesn’t fit well.

Houston with Herro and Green and Whitmore and Brooks and Thompson just seems like a lot of 2G/SF players. One of them would need to be involved to smooth out the lineup.

Re: Going to give Herro to the Rockets another shot...
Trading Herro to mostly just move up 6 slots seems... excessive, though I suppose Tate / Green / Landale are guys on decent contracts that might be solid rotation players.
For Houston the main issue seem to be that Herro's skill set and position seem to most overlap with Jalen Green, so part of this would involve what you think of Green going forward.
As far as I can read Houston's FO's plan, it seems they're intent to be patient and see how these 6 guys pan out before really making moves, their books are also lined up mostly to move NEXT off-season. so before next deadline / offseason I suspect Houston won't be proactive in making moves unless something really crazy comes up. (like Durant asking to go to Houston or something.)

Don’t see Herro as worth his salary, prefer to keep our pick here and kick the tires on Jalen again to fulfill the SG role.

I like Herro, but I don't like his contract for us. On the surface, what you're proposing is fair from Houston's perspective. Getting Herro and 15 for 9 and some salary fillers is pretty nice but I just don't think we're the right team for Herro when we already have Whitmore and Jalen and our aim is to be active and making roster moves in 2025.

I dont see a talent gap between the 15th pick and the 9th pick. So Herro for fillers doesnt make sense.

Re: Going to give Herro to the Rockets another shot...
I view HOU's full healthy, pre-draft and free agency depth chart for next year as something like:
FVV
Green / Thompson
Brooks / Whitmore / Tate
Smith Jr. / Eason / Green
Sengun / Adams / Landale
Not sure Herro is the best fit to add to that group, IMO. His skill set is too duplicative with Jalen Green's. Maybe if they traded Jalen Green for something else then pursuing Herro makes sense, but I don't see it as worth it for their current roster.
On the MIA side, feels unlikely. I guess value COULD make sense if they have the 9th and 15th picks as drastically different. Breaking Herro down to smaller salaries could be a big help if they have ownership mandate to cut costs. But it doesn't seem like the 9th and 15th pick would have that type of discrepancy and if there was some ownership mandate to cut costs it's hard to imagine they'd have traded for Rozier. So I don't see it for them.
